AROUND 1,200 jobs are to be lost with the closure of one of Loughborough's biggest employers.

AstraZeneca today announced it is to shut its pharmaceutical plant in the town next year.

Staff were told this afternoon.

Loughborough MP Andy Reed said: "The word devastating is over used but I think that is the only way to describe this."
