How are things going since Lonza's acquisition?
I have seen the worst of the worst, yet I still have faith that Lonza can still pull the numbers up and make a real difference in the marketplace. DMY, but IMO the reason turnover matters is that company history is losst with the disenfranchised. OMG, but BFF isn't a term we used when I slogged it out shoulder-to-shoulder at Lonza's best
Good to see you have no biased point of view to sell.
The LonzaEmperor wears no clothes obviously. I suppose they have the right to demand remove defamatory, libelous and slanderous posts as well as any proprietary information.
Some of the posts removed were not any of this, IMO, this is typical of those who deal in threats and fear. They fear being exposed for what they are, like all bullies...
They probably think they can spin control all these problems into submission, or someone is just biding for some time before sh*t truly hits the fan. Unfortunately everywhere I look in BioTech, the few "successful" entrenched people are the problem; they ruin anyone else who brings honesty in reporting to any project in favor of "hierarchy" and status quo.
After CD left the company, I should have thought things would get better. In who's shadow do the "evil" doers lurk now? Concerns about quality and FDA should not be struck from the record; if anything OPEN communication on these issues will only improve Lonza and the Industry overall.
Very happy to have left, no plans to going back unless the schedule is sweet and the $ talks. Don't think they want me though because I say what others won't and what the powers that be don't want to hear.
Bring back the Baltimore site!!!!!!
warning letter is about the Ontac and Intralax drug product. there was a number of lots released that were OOS. Should I be worried? I have 3 boys and a home...
How bad is it with the warning letter?
So, now that Hopkinton has a warning letter issued against it, any chance the people there might start taking things seriously?
what was yesterdays news?
If site leadership isn't ousted after yesterday's news then they never will be....they will probably try to spin it and dump some middle managers or supervisors they don't like.
There is isn't anybody left there that has figured out what is going on. Too new to know how crappy everything really is.....
NothIng here is going to change, face it. The upper mgt does what they want because they can. Is it right? Clearly not. Is it ethical? Not one bit but nothing will be done about it, someone high up condones this behavior and thinks its working for now.
So if its accepted up on high then there will be no mgt shakeup and those of us at the bottom rungs can't do anything about it no matter how many surveys we take. The only choices are to endure in silence or leave, which some have done but in reality if you 'live up here and don't want a long commute then you are stuck with these bozos and their crap. Those are the only two options leaveor shut up, they don't care and they certainly don't value yours a contributing member or the company no matter what they say.....so suck it up or walk, hey it's a paycheck right? When you have to deal with o e of these idiots just smile and nod makes them think your compliant and that all they really care about
The tree needs to be shaken to let the croney management out! I am so glad I left lonza. It has been the best thing ever. The grass is defintly greener on the other side!
You guys have been quiet for a while. Did management finally block this site?
I didn't make the rules... As for those that were hired at levels they really had not reached in their career..well thats another error on Lonza's part.
According to the rules Lonza have written. They can not promote just based on time or senority. There are several pieces of the puzzle to complete before promotion is considered. If the rules really do apply then that would mean they were written for all employees not just those that are climbing the ladder based off of who they know.
.....and some in the old times were hired as sra and III that should be II, are you saying that these guys get the position first just because of their title and not ability? get a grip on reality....
Like the one that requires two to four years between levels for promotion...Recently saw two people go from level two to supervisor (thats three steps) in 1 year time frame. Please don't try to tell me it was because they were worthy...Hmmmmm Do the rules apply for all? I think not... Only those in the inner circle.
Who got a promotion now?
Some of the resent promotions have been pretty shady... They did break the very set of rules that they set themselves. Guess the rules only apply to the average employee. The good ol' boys apparently have another set and will continue to climb and take care of each other. Yep all one can do is keep shaking your head.
some weeks here aren't so bad others just make me shake my head in amazement.
so what's the email say? How do they plan to deal with people leaving? good stuff, bad, indifferent?
Wake up, Ha! they know what they are doing, they are taking care of themslves and their own. Keeping their inner circle alive and well and throwing scraps to their lap dogs. Look at some of the recent promotions, They even broken their own rules to promote people, unbelievable.
Are the hardest workers or the most deserving getting anything? Aside from the constant lecturing about how lucky we are to work there and we should work harder and keep our mouths shut or its action plan time.
Action plans...Lonza's answer to anyone who has an opinion different than the one they tell you to have.
On a brighter note I had my first interview last week, hopefully I can tell them to piss off.
yeah well upper mgt here has a plan for people seeking greener pastures, there's an email floating around about what they think of people leaving, real professional. they keep saying people are "coming back", that's a load of BS
I know we are losing a lot of people and some of the moves I can understand, but leaving for Genzyme?? When you have people leaving to work at a place under consent decree you eventually have to admit that this place really sucks.
This mgt team isnt the right team to be leading us, hopefully some mgt is reading this, and by some of the responses I think the are....WAKE UP guys!!!
I know I left for big pharma so I can hide in a huge department. haha. You are truly delusional as to why people leave there if you believe that.
Yep taking the Gravy Train to Easy Street Station.
of course it is for people like you, having a huge dept at large pharma doing the same unit operation means people like you can hide....at least for a few more years until you get discovered and start complaining about that place also.
One thing to say, "The pastures are greenier despite what they tell you"
I don't believe in unions my point was unions were created because of crappy mgt
Take a look around there plenty of lazy people here and exceptional workers aren't getting rewarded management favorites are
Unions in Biotech?,
Unions are a great excuse for incompetent lazy people to hide and to prevent the few exceptional workers from actually getting promoted ....which group are you in?, I think we both know the real answer to that one.
Yep probably someone from site leadership too, those slugs don't do much of anything.
Lonza can be summed up in two words "sweat shop"
Management like this is the reason unions were created!!!!!
Now I know we have management on here with that response.
Keep them from leaving? Are you kidding it seems like the management here thinks their job is to force people out........make them do their jobs you mean
There a few people here that just don't play nice and yet nothing seems to get done about it. play nice hahaha where have you worked before...
I'm sure with the recent inspection findings there's going to be some finger pointing that should make for an even better atmosphere........comes with the industry, dont like it try the big G, im sure its much better with a CD to deal with, or macdonalds if you have no other skills or exprience
Keep them from leaving? Are you kidding it seems like the management here thinks their job is to force people out. And yet some real "deadwood" that should go remains. There a few people here that just don't play nice and yet nothing seems to get done about it. I'm sure with the recent inspection findings there's going to be some finger pointing that should make for an even better atmosphere.
sounds like a management response to me. When will you people realize the talent we have here and do something to keep them from leaving.
much better since before, still some dead wood left to clear out....
Have things improved or become worse?
Worst place in all of Biotech to work.
Lonza still continues to let their experience walk. I think 4 last week. Why don't they stop it? What is going on that they are not telling us?
Why can't this site seem to pull itself together. We have made progress and improved but the feeling is "no one wants to be here". Morale is still in the toilet and the their is no end in sight.
Well the past 2 weeks have been an eye opener, my job search begins next week. I'll miss the foozball...
What's going on? I thought things were turning around there?
Another week and more departures, when are the company big wigs going to realize that the site leadership here needs to go? These guys couldn't lead us out of a tunnel.
who is leaving now?
The Hop needs to make money in 2011 or it will be more than a half of dozen people leaving, it will be everyone. I hope it will because there are good people here.
Geez can we get through a month without a half dozen people bailing out? What the hell?
listen guys, why don't you realise that Lonza is a skank operation and senior management is going to sell all the biologics as soon as it can
Word around town is that after 2011 they will pack up their profits and sell off the Portsmouth site to whomever wants that size facility.
Borgas pretty much came out and all but said , we're selling out. Hopkinton plant is where they will keep the US operation rolling. Look around at all the departures, promotions and "transfers". Shifting the talent pool of those they want to keep down to Hopkinton and promoting those they really like to either transition them after a buyout or roll them into a sweet position after a buyout.
The writing is on the wall people, you don't think they'd be treating us like this or letting so many go if they planned on staying, how many temp heads do we have here?
This management is the definition of "Diseconomies of scale".
The most retarded management I have ever seen. So glad to be gone.
Classic reactive groupthink X type management mentality.
