I really would like to know who you are because for the life of me I can not imagine who Lonza is throwing any money at. Have you not had the "market anchor" discussion with your boss? Have you not had your pathetic attempt at a performance appraisial yet? Have you not been told by your boss that your annual increase is going to be after 15 months, not 12 as it should be?Come on, have some balls and post your initials so we can all see who Lonza is throwing this pile of money at, because I can tell you it's Nobody I have spoken with in Hopkinton!
Tone Loc

The way things are going it looks like taking a baltimore package and having the summer off then starting a new job is the better looking of the two options. I envy the B'mores.Peace out!

So whatis the deal, are they building a New state-of-the-art plant or are they moving up the crap equipment you speak of from Baltimore? How can Lonza just start tearing out equipment when they don't really own the building or what came with it, aren't they are just leasing it? Suprise Suprise Surprise
I heard Lonza is leaving the WHE skids but it looks like some stuff that should be staying is going, or at least it's been prepared for a move. There aren't many employees that have been there long enough to even be able to tell what equipment should stay. Anything that was there when Bio Science was in operation isn't worth much and most of the equipment that was purchased by Cambrex has been abused or cannibalized so a buyer wouldn't have much to start with anyway. It has however been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Xmas tree belongs to MD Bio and needs to stay! HANDS OFF THE TREE LONZA!
Not all equipment is 15 years old. MD Bio doesn't own all the equipment, Cambrex owns some and if they are new and it costs less to move than buy new why not move it? The crash is coming!

Lonza Hopkinton (formerly Cambrex)

Now here is a person that appears to have some of the inside details. Why is Lonza not considering buying new utilities? If the Baltimore plant more than 15 years old then I assume some/most of this major equipment you speak of is near or beyond it's useful life? What the heak is going on in Hopkinton? Cool, thanks for that perspective, I didn't think of it that way. Why do you say the stuff being moved up from Balt. is broken? I thought that they were building a New state-of-the-art plant? Or at least that is what they told me when I interviewed there. What's the real story.
Correction, they are pissing Swiss Francs down the drian, not euros, The Swiss Misses, like to Brits, were to proud to let their precious money get absorded into the Euro exchange. Anyone know what's happening in Hopkinton? These posts don't look too promising...Should good people consider working there?
Of course you should consider working there. It would take at least 18 months for them to sort through all the stuff baltimore is shipping and then by the time they figure out its a lot of broken ill kept equipment they will already be knee deep in client obligations they have to finish up before closing hopkinton. You should be safe for 3 years at least.

At this rate no contract biopharma job in the US is safe at Lonza. Once they finish with B-more they will have all eyes focuses on Hopkinton. At the rate they are going, with their expansion/construction, their heads will all be on the chopping block as the Swiss misses relize they are just pissing euros down the drain in the US. Good luck to all, but you bette rstart spit polishing your resumes. DON"T DRINK THE KOOL AID!!!
