Looking in from outside of IVD industry, it seems like every company (at least at this site) has huge problems. So the question becomes is the industry to a certain extent fundamentally changed? Is the industry a commodity market that will see occasional "innovation" and is now fundamentally driven by price?

...don't forget merging what is left of RAS with RMD is just a small bandaid on a the bigger problem at RMD. The incremental revenue will not stem the losses they are seeing due to Newgen delays and cost overuns, and the HPV fiasco , which D O'D wrought on the division before he skated off to Roche Pharma. They've squeezed as much revenue they can out of PCR licensing, but the cliff is unavoidable so they can't count on that revenue to save the day.

The worst part is that the press release talks solely about Branford and Penzberg, by the way the people that really fucked up RAS, but what about all RAS employees in the world that are currently kindly asked to leave.

Even if the news on New GEN were true, didn't we hear that before on many other products? And what happens in the end? Roche will lead the PCR virology and donor testing market also with these products.
If products were perfect, you wouldn't need any marketing or sales people. You would only need an online store, logistics and accounting.

Pay attention anyone who is looking at going to work for Roche CD sales (Don't have to worry about it right now since they are on a hiring freeze). In the past 6 years the CEO has changed 3 times (2 year average). The VP of sales has changed 5 times (1 year 2 month average). AD's were hired based on blind loyaty to CB and sure they will be changing soon since he was moved over to Marketing after failing to hit his number? Marketing is a ship of fools now headed up by someone who has never held a marketing position. There is ZERO continuity and no authority in the sales department. That's why they continue to hire and promote the unqualified, under-experienced, carpet-baggers. Good luck to the new VP of sales. This position should help you in your job search in 2014.

The drama continues. RP, who has been a total failure in CD marketing (way to be Cialis Boy) gets a plum assignment to Switzerland global marketing - UNBELIEVABLE!!! Then, it only gets better, CB loses his position as VP of Sales and gets the CD Marketing Position vacated by RP when he has ZERO marketing experience in his entire career. This ship has NO rudder and the only reason it is not completely foundering is because the competitors are so screwed up as well.
