I agree, TA will do a great job! He is ethical and experienced. He is definitely not the reason for timelines being missed with FDA submissions. He does a good job keeping those teams in line.

This is a good thing. Finally someone ethical with a commercial and operations background who understands the downstream effects of lapses in quality and a lack of urgency to get things done. This is a well deserved promotion.

The so called "turn" of RDC and the good results despite missing sales is 100% a result of the changes and cost containment MT initiated, which now JP and his "merry men" are claiming to be their doing....

Wake up and smell the roses....JP cant sit down as he has the "ever faithful" chameleon WB so far up his hinny....Immaturity and inexperience of the "merry men" (also known as the 3 Blind mice) will certainly turn RDC around...NOT!

Too bad CW and DoD haven't a clue what they are doing....blind leading the blind....

Let's set the record straight on several RDC Indy open Biofind topics:

1. The Roche share price is down for three reasons. 15% loss due to currency (franc drop vs US dollar), loss of FDA approval for Herceptin indications related to breast cancer and the overall negative impact of health care reform that is impacting all Healthcare stocks. Stock options for Roche executives are "under water", expect top managers at RDC to be more included to leave Roche, no reason to stick around and cash out options.

2. You CAN "short" Roche stock by buying ADR's, available from many US brokerage firms.

3. As far as MM, Roche Global Procurement has not made a material contribution to Roche under Martin K., for at least 4 years. Basel management decided to split Global procurment into Direct and Indirect. MM got direct, Martin K. got indirect procurement. The scope of this job for MM is considerably less than her old job as head of RDC supply chain. Since DoD and JP have come into play, the decision had been made to fix the Global Procurement lack of results, eliminate the MM and KK "cronyism" in RDC supply chain, and reduce the scope of both MM and KK's roles in Roche.

These are the behind the scenes facts...

Share price declined significantly because of more news raising doubt on a couple of Genetech drugs. As has been stated before, SS lacks the business maturity to run a operation as expansive as Roche holding. SS set the Diagnostics division up for failure (bad decisions, appointed JS and allowed MT to be hired among other bonehead moves) and was then promoted to run the whole Roche group. The stock is DUMPING because his brilliant moves are now not performing as projected and the street is wise to his plan. Too bad we can't short the stock in U.S., we would make tons of money.

Selling novel tissue tests in an early stage market is very different from leading a highly competitive, commodity business. Especially with the profit targets mandated by Basel. Fasten your seat belts... this ain't the last chapter.

It's the Leadership Team. Wonder if JP and "my management team" comes and goes as a set too. They will either learn the Roche/Swiss way or be shown the highway. How many bosses does JP have besides DoD.

Not so unusual for a new leader to surround himself with people he trusts and who have delivered for him in the past. Regime change is a political reality in many arenas..government, military, business etc. People on a Management Team should understand that they are at risk when the leader changes. JP and his team were very successful at Ventana...the challenge is for them to scale the lessons they learned to a much larger business.

New cronies. More Ventana peeps. JP added another one to "my management team" to take MN's position. Who else is gonna get forced out or take early retirement.

Roche's experience in molecular, and especially TO's, had little if anything to do with building a market. PCR assays were available to clinicans a couple of years before Roche even acquired PCR rights from Cetus, so the market was already rolling. What the pharma's need are people with experience on the cutting edge of new diagnostic business development, not a big commodity diagnostics "company hack" (isn't that what big pharma is struggling with already in their traditional business, anyway ?)

* Dx is fine* not so sure this is entirely true...think Applied Science and Molecular Diagnostics are meeting corporate expectations but clearly CC/IMM business is a disapointment
