Why are LT hiring so many new people in UK sales? About 5 jobs advertised in the last month. Very optimistic when funding is abysmal and scientific morale has gone out of the window!

Invitrogen is alot like genital herpes, once infected you never get rid of it. Every company they have bought out or merged with has gone down the crapper, look what they did when they bought Life Tech.

Greg Lucier, lt ceo
Total Annual Compensation $1,186,539
Total Annual Cash Compensation $2,897,682
You're right, not sustainable long term.
Hold on now though, let's see, if slash employee healthcare benefits, make espp a joke, remove renovated cafeteria from foster city (leaving the other expensive/subsidized-to-the-company only cafe), fire R&Dleaders, questionably layoff 80% of over40 (age group) technical writers (again in fc), hire mainly contract workers and lay off full-timers (even though some of those contract workers are the same previous fulltimers now without benefits), why yes, it may just look sustainable enough to investors in the short term.
Management, especially you GE-birthed managers and directors, your vision is in reality a working scientist's nightmare. Applied Biosystems was a lame case but you have taken that to new lows on your own. Your vision is destructive and fools no one. What employee loyalty was present is now a facade. Revel in your accomplishment. Get this sham lowlife management out of there asap.

Was Marketing Mgr making $110k + 15% bonus, wasn't worth the pain of director with personality disorder so I left. VC will pull LT apart and sell IP (ha!) piece by piece. Expect a skeleton crew to remain to keep operations running until everything is sold. R&D, Marketing, HR, and BD will be slashed. Don't worry, even though it will sting slightly in the beginning your freedom to work at a non-shithole company not populated by gutter trash management will be priceless.

Now that TMO is off the table anyone have an idea of what life at LIFE will be like if a VC firm buys us? Say the deal goes down at COB today how much time do I have to find another job before they start selling us off business unit by business unit? What would be less carnage, a company or VC firm buying us? What typically happens to the employees in these types of deals? Not freaking out but hate having to look for a new job so soon into this one.

i got a better than expected salary rise. I should be happy but find it slightly un-nerving!
Thanks for that info Greg. You're being rewarded for all your hard work. I'm sure you're angling for 10% of the company from the VC firms as a payout for the sellout.

The information we were getting from business excellence group on the purchase of life dried up.
My fried at Tamesak holdings told me the sale is still on. They are buying the stocks of LifeTech on a daily basis, but cannot buy too much on any single day because that will push the price too high(already high). Eventually Life will be delisted. Trust me, I have been in Singapore for more than 40 years since birth, and worked for V&V software.

"How can he have a vision when he's had his head up his ass since Bush Jr's. first term?"
One would think that would generate a very consistent vision. Consistent.. Not a word I would associate with GL's vision of anything. Except maybe his vision of himself standing atop a large pile of cash.

Lucier has a vision. A misguided and idiotic one, but he has one.
Not at all his vision is clear, to be the most well paid and richest person in Biotech and he has no interest or scruples on how to get there and how many lives he destroys in the process.

My source there said human resources in Carlsbad is on a witch hunt to find the source of merger and acquisition leaks. Warning to all, hr is actively using all tools available to find the leak. I am surprised head of BE still has her head. Be careful all.

Not overpaid believe me. Lazy?? Hard to be lazy with the slave drivers cracking the whip all day. And actually, given Life's penchant for catering to foreigners I'm surprised they havent outsourced our jobs to China yet, but even that would be a good thing, the property values would go up in the business park where Life is located after the stink of the place blew away.
