coming B4 year end.
Whomever buys this company will need to work very hard to build back the trust and loyalty that our customers....
And the employees. Anyone left has been screwed over, seen their friends screwed over or expecting to be screwed over. Many of those left are merely vacant stooges of a toxic management, those management are clueless, directionless and brainless and absolutely have to go.
Whomever buys this company will need to work very hard to build back the trust and loyalty that our customers once had and have now lost. Quite often we deliver malfunctioning instruments, we ship half of the items we are supposed to ship or the wrong items. Is this a one time mistake? this is what they used to think but the fact is that we don't fix our mistakes (although they have been getting reported) and customers see this. So now, clearly, not only we are more expensive but we suck too, consequently the customer is going to the less expensive and somewhat reliable competitor. Simple as that.
The sad part is up there in the exec levels they know this and I don't they care! as long as the happy momentum lasts no need to fix anything and when the momentum ends...just sell and move to the next target?? I guess this is the only explanation I have to explain why we are so persistently dysfunctional.
"The previous poster is incorrect. Coverage for my family continues till the end of the month. LIFE is a business. Layoffs are parts of every business or organization. So for those who were unfortunately released, just deal with it and move on."
I am the "previous poster." Since this actually did happen to me, and I have confirmed by direct contact with other people who were laid of when I was tha I was not the only one to experience this, the "previous poster" is not incorrect. Just because it may not have happened to you does not mean that it did not happen to anybody.
Whomever buys it should close the distribution dept. immediately run it out of their own existing distribution center, morale is so low at Life's DS that it's only a matter of time before it drags the whole company down due to excessive errors in picking product and shipment. Has anyone seen the errors coming from International lately?
Looks messy, what would be the best scenario if you worked for LIFE.
One thing that can be taken to the bank (other than GL's payout) is that there is no "best" scenario anymore. Everything is messy, just in different ways. Nobody wants to buy and run LIFE as an intact company. The ONLY way it stays semi-intact is if this whole buyout scenario is abandoned. In which case, look for the stock to take a bigger hit than Illumina's did after the Roche bid pull out.
The same article claims that LT is a "diagnostics" company. So slow the roll on what brilliant insights this article expounds.
The article states that whoever is the buyer will probably have to buy all and divest what they don't want for tax reasons. i.e. TMO buys all of LIFE and punts Ion over to Roche or maybe the other way around. Roche keeps Ion and then sell the rest to TMO. Looks messy, what would be the best scenario if you worked for LIFE.
Its more like Ion goes to Roche and keeps the new facility post-sale and the rest of the business gets broken down for whomever takes it.
Life Tech isn't going to exist pretty soon so anyone with the capability should leave, happy or not. They actually announced that Ion Torrent will be walled off from other employees in the South San Francisco site (even though sharing the same site). If that doesn't tell you everything you need to know (both in terms of the sale and Life Tech in general) then you're utterly hopeless.
Roche is supposed to make an announcement after trading today that they are the new owners... take it or leave it
Walled off? Shades of Starlight.
Or staying away from Life Technologies, they are the source of the negative energy.
I would start by staying off this site... it is nothing but negative energy!
Its purely up to you. don't limit yourself!
yes I do.... 40+ is not too old. start looking today and go at your convenience not anyone elses...
"All of you layoff last year are either low skilled or lazy"
Probably an actual low skilled lazy ass who is just in denial. Just because MC takes your picture and broadcasts it on the flatscreen in the warehouse does not mean you are well loved.LOL
"All of you layoff last year are either low skilled or lazy"
Just another troll and not a very skilled one. Best approach is not to feed.
Thanks for the advice below. So at 40+ with a career as a scientist I should just explore what makes me happy and that will put my kids through college, pay the mortgage, etc.
You don't honestly believe that right?
Such anger and negative passions.... Life is too short. If you are unhappy find something that makes you happy and close this chapter of your life...
I hope you find what makes you happy whether it is at Life Technologies or somewhere else. Follow your passions and you will find what makes you happy
"Not foreigner, just voicing the view of the educated silent majority."
Educated and Life Tech in the same sentence, that dog dont hunt.
"All of you layoff last year are either low skilled or lazy. Instead of whining, do some reflection, gain more skills and work harder. I worked hard and the company compensated me justly."
What's to say they were laid off and why would they give a shit about Life Tech if they were? Your post "sounds" foreign so thats why you were "compensated justly" because Life Tech only looks out for foreigners.
Not foreigner, just voicing the view of the educated silent majority.
All of you layoff last year are either low skilled or lazy. Instead of whining, do some reflection, gain more skills and work harder. I worked hard and the company compensated me justly.
"rather you think I am an ass kisser because I like where I work and the team I work with - than being a sorry little whiny girly bitch w/o a set of balls to say goodbye and walk! you probably have no skills other than being a whiny bitch so you are too afraid to put your whiny ass in some risk and find another job. Get a life, you waste the air with every breath!
You pansy-ass bitch! Just quit or shut the fuck up!"
Asskissing has nothing to do with liking where you work or coworkers, or even having skills. Just being a suck up and selling those coworkers you profess to like so much down the river like the punk ass bitch you are. Speaking of breathing air, could you stop, you have your supervisors jizz on your breath and its rank.
And candy assed pussies like you havent the balls to shut me up so put your goddamn knee pads back on and get back under bossmans desk and get back to the only thing you're good for.
Life may not be perfect, but what company is???
no kidding... what a bunch of ass-wipes and malcontents!
rather you think I am an ass kisser because I like where I work and the team I work with - than being a sorry little whiny girly bitch w/o a set of balls to say goodbye and walk! you probably have no skills other than being a whiny bitch so you are too afraid to put your whiny ass in some risk and find another job. Get a life, you waste the air with every breath!

Danaher is selling their tool business to Romney's Bain Capital, having just bought Beckman Coulter after their COE Scott Garrett was fired, and Garrett sold Dade to Bain in the 90's, and now they're all rich except for the employees who lost their jobs. GL wants to do the same with LIFE. Private equity firms save America, rah rah.
Yes, I also read a very short article about GL making his backside available for entries, such as Thermo and Danaher.
That's solid. You can print that. Kill a tree. Print that. It's soddin' gold, that is.
From the other thread, thought it was classic
"When will we know if sold"
When your spineless, dickless department head takes your badge and escorts you out of the building.
GL IS AN ARROGANT PRICK... HE LEARNED TO REFINE IT FROM MOD!
When will we know if sold
10. Everyone baited GL sells off shares cashing in on hype. LIFE not sold, GL laughing all the way to the bank.
Thanks for the a new challenge you have unveiled in your writing.I’ll make sure to bookmark it and come back to read more of your useful info. I'll definitely comeback…. ダウンジャケット 洗濯 http://downjacketwash.wakatono.jp/
9. DPRK takeover. KJU states his admiration for GL and his ability to cultitvate a cult of personality following. Hope to dominate Chinese market due to cheap labor and trade agreements. KJU installs GL as his guru and Deputy Supreme Leader. Sign exlusive NGS licensing deals with Cuba, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran and Zimbabwe. Quarterly earnings reports become even more opaque than Chinese PEI numbers...
TMO buys all of LIFE for 60, spins Ion off to Roche. Then proceeds to wreck shop by cutting back and laying off 30% GL then has his bankroll to run for president.
GL decides to man up and fight it out with ILMN and the rest
Man up? That would ruin weekend hobbies.
Kind of quiet out there...LIFE is currently trading at 64.20 up from 63.50 the stock seems to hover at just under 65 ... probably the price that takes it out. My question is who will be the lucky owner next week? Lets take a vote on the future of LIFE, feel free to provide as much detail as you would like. Stock price, date, best company for the employes, best deal for GL, least likely to destroy aqusition etc.
1. Roche. all or just Ion...
3. Private equity .. I cast my vote for PE then selling off Ion to Roche.
6. United Technologies
8. Nothing happens GL decides to man up and fight it out with ILMN and the rest
sorry but 1 billion is still WAY WAY over projected even, we are talking clinical here... there is simply no way. Some hopsitals are going to the absurdity of it all. Spend that money on proper diet and exercise. The world will be much better.
Ha! Agreed - more like biting a grenade!
What type of assumptions do these guys make? they expect the clinical deep sequencing market will be more than $10 billion in 5 years. Absurd! Like Chlamydia testing will migrate to sequencing. Call me when that happens!
I saw this come out today in genomeweb:
"Clinical sequencing services could grow from around $100 million in 2012 to more than $1 billion by 2015, the majority of which will be for noninvasive prenatal testing as well as oncology."
$1 billion!!! Seems low, but $10 billion is absurd!
I saw him get wood from a analyst calling outperform on the stock, it looked like a python biting a bowling ball.
Luc is awesome you guys are all wrong about it
I heard they have a new qpcr coming out called abi prism 1000. It's an iPhone taking picture of an expend org PCR block. It will have a huge marketing campaign, they will take it on a bus, they will have yoga with and they will go on the beach with it. People will have sex with it.
Don't forget the nonexistent million dollar rewards for anyone who can get it to work properly.
Neither DHR nor TMO will purchase LIFE at the current price + premium. "This dog don't hunt". Looking to get back in around 40ish by end of April if no sale.
LIFE won't sell for the price that TMO needs to buy.
