coming B4 year end.
i love it how rothberg still relates to himself as the the ceo of ion, eventhough it was bought by LT. The whole thing is a joke, they do more spinning than rumplestiltskin, only he could spin gold, they spin shit. How long can the faecal quagmire continue
"at life tech, we sell...hype."
Also known as vaporware. GL's song and dance - dog and pony show - is akin to the the ole lucky dog cart pushed by GL selling his magic potions and elixirs.
who are the 1000s of users? In their own minds possibly?
Anyone want to comment on this?
Once again gimicks strike. From the mac rip off to sell the PGM, to this. If they want to keep it quiet the should say Shh IT is coming.
at life tech, we sell...hype.
As to the Attune question, yes that product will be killed, they haven't sold a friggin unit honestly (for its true value), that gang should start packing soon.
Killing off the Attune is a $100M plus hit to the balance sheet. So what is the story, an asset fire sale? We bottom feeders want to know.
"Meg Whitman , CEO of HP, Salary of 1$. There is a leadership lesson."
Check the compensation package first. HP=High Price.
But we get your point:-)
Meg Whitman , CEO of HP, Salary of 1$. There is a leadership lesson.
How do you expect GL to make his numbers if LIFE doesn't overcharge and acquire crap companies to dismember?
Actually I can see the problem, if the material comes out of Oregon to Oregon there is no sales tax other areas have sales tax. Oregon has additional taxes for toxins such as dry ice if the material should have to be shipped on dry ice. If you order from a company that has local that does not require 30 ice packs to ensure it does not freeze or does not get too warm then go with that one. during Hurricane Katrina there were actual complaints they did not receive their materials in tiem - dang the FedEx drivers.
Sucks to say but at times the material you need might have to be ordered from another warehouse that actually has what you need in stock which will change the shipping charges. Fedex and DHL set those prices
they don't lay off on Fridays. Should I get laid off tomorrow i would still not talk trash about the company. In the 16 years I have worked there and have seen friends and colleagues come and go I believe that every employee on the ground floor really cares.
OMG!!!! tomorrow? End of Q3? or End of LIFE?
Last days for MANY lifer's tomorrow. All I can say.
"Up for debate, but one thing is certain; at least they can speak English properly."
Yes, I speak spanish better than you.
"We have the leanest ... group of people working here" - I've been to Austin. The last word that pops into my head when I see any Texan is "lean".
"Legacy IVGN sites such GI, MD, OR, CA are the WORSE" - Up for debate, but one thing is certain; at least they can speak English properly.
That's an outlier.
Perhaps. But don't you see how an occasional outlier like that (pretty high profile product line) might make a customer suspect that many of the other products they currently purchase from LIFE are also outliers? And then investigate options for other products they are purchasing from LIFE? Perhaps you could provide an example of where your list price is competitive with NEB on anything in the NEB catalog. Include shipping and handling in your final cost analysis.
" Big Pimp'n? He's gone because he didn't do anything (productive). "
Petrie is gone too ??? Wow, that's hard to believe. I thought GL loved him.
I think the head of HR likes to kiss something besides GL's ass!
"That's an outlier."
Perhaps other outliers are the new products that are continually launched with little or no testing that piss of customers and embarrass the sales force? Life should open a museum at one of the soon to be closed sites and create a "Believe it or not!" feature for all of the turds they have dropped on the research community.
That's not an outlier, it's a fact. By the way, if you keep ordering your weekly or monthly Taq, Life will see that trend and will increase the price of that Taq on you VS a new customer who never ordered that pack size. This is how the bean counters have decided the future of LIFE and how it is being destroyed.
Also, they sometimes actually hide sku numbers that adds a fixed shipping cost on site freezer items not in stock, this sku is hidden from anyone and automated in E3.
I still remember when they came up with the ridiculous mini freezers, what a crock of shit this company is. I feel ashamed, dirty and disrespected. I'm only happy to have seen one of my boss and one of his manager go from GL favorites to being fired within 2 years. It took me a while to bring up the dirty laundry but after a few months of really backstabbing them like they did to us, I was able to execute on my plan. I hope these managers rot in hell, they destroyed so many lives, I will make sure they never again find work in this business, I will track them down on their every move and their constant bullshit.
How about we try a concrete example. NEB will sell me 4000 units of recombinant Taq polymerase for $418. Their shipping and handling charges on this order are $0. I can order at 4:30 pm Pacific and have it before 10 am the next morning. I actually do this fairly routinely. 4000 NEB units is actually 6000 LIFE units. LIFE's list price on 5000 units is $1466. I cannot determine the shipping and handling charges without actually ordering it and looking at the eventual invoice. I have never ordered Taq polymerase from LIFE. Can you see where some customers might think there is a lack of customer focus?
I would need more information on "shipping policies" to understand what the problem is. The team receives the order, packs it appropriately and gets it out the door to the customer as soon as possible. Are you referring to shipping costs/conditions the time it takes to fulfill the order?
"The majority of employees are not concerned with back biting but continuing on with focusing on our customers."
Then why does Life continue to treat customers like retarded step children? For the sake of simplicity, let's limit the debate to just shipping policies. How the hell do you defend that kind of blatant robbery?
There are quite a few of us at Life that read this site but do not respond to the sniping. It is difficult to deal with transitions and lay offs. The majority of employees are not concerned with back biting but continuing on with focusing on our customers. Our customers are not like the people in line at a fast food restraunt, you customers are the people who can make a change in the lives of our families.
"So is BP still there ? What has he done ?"
Big Pimp'n? He's gone because he didn't do anything (productive).
We are the best circle HELL has to offer. We have the best foundation (vile slime) and best activities (evading vicious three heads dogs; much better than those guys next door--forever moving worthless trinkets from nation to nation) of any circle of HELL. If you cross over the River Styx, you have to deal directly with Lucifer, those circles are the pits.
And you believe ANY corporate management?
What is the story with the Attune these days? I hear that it may be dropped!
As a LIFE shareholder, all this inter-site sniping is rather disquieting. It was claimed by corporate management that the predecessor companies were successfully integrated. That claim is now starting to sound rather fraudulent.
Wow. This is the exactly opposite of what current and former people say. I hear that its a very Draconian operation although one manager told me that it was doing very well. Some of their "selected retirements" were long overdue so I guess that's a plus.
Yes, I love Austin site. Best site all around. GL should use the Austin model. It worked.!!
We are the best site LIFE has to offer. We have the leanest most competent group of people working here. We have the best infrastructure, lowest cost and most productive. Legacy IVGN sites such GI, MD, OR, CA are the worse.
So is BP still there ? What has he done ?
austin, always thinks theyre the best, however if you go below the cricket awards, and the smoke and mirrors theyre just as screwed up as all the other sites. Crap planning, crap procurement, crap quality, no raw material specs, and products made on deviations. The only reason why theyre still there is that they are a cheap manufacturing location
So Austin getting cut back at all ? I ran into a manager from there in an airport and he was singing the company song something to the tune of "we're the best" when my impression was the site was the least expensive to run.
STAFF: Life Preservers! Where are the Life Preservers???
UM: We have some lovely Furniture we're just dying to distract you with. If we're really careful we can keep sending you email about that every so often.
STAFF: LT UM, you're not fit to be fry cooks. The FC employees practically Begged for 401K benefits info on LifeLink: to no avail (thanks for nothing HR, when people stop posting questions it's due to fear of being singled out for asking the real questions and Not because questions were adequately answered!!).
And now how ludicrous is it that we have to keep getting internally spammed about Furniture a lot of us will never see??!!
STAFF: Severance package, uhm, life preservers, where are the life preservers.
LifeTech is now cutting off customer accounts for customers who purchased instruments on the used market and won't pay LTC a re-licensing fee. In prior times a change of ownership form was filled out when the instrument transferred to a new owner, no fee collected. I guess LIFE needs to make money somehow. Why not bully customers and threaten 3rd party re-sellers and service organizations who were buying consumables from LTC? If we can't make money by providing great products and great customer service let us bully our customers. Way to go Julian Walker, Todd Kruger, and the LTC legal guys/gals!
Yup! another round of right sizing coming up!! Research spending is down, grant down, government spending definitely down. Exposure to EU, currency rate, market imploding, asia market is a mess, PGM? . Anyone can think of positives for LIFE revenue this quarter? Me think not.
We cannot wait any longer. We must change our CEO AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! Greg ruined almost every new product, now it comes to PGM. SOLiD is not good, just so so, But Greg make it worse and finally a joke. Our company is a heavy patient now, Greg is not a right person who can lead a long-run business.
The former GE employees, from both sides of the house, contribute to LIFE's demise and the pillaging practices.
I totally agree. If you look at who is running operation, planning, procurement, and distribution all you see are the same ones that run ABI. So in retrospect if ABI was such a great company how come the same leadership that run it then can run life now. Lucifer is a salesman, and a poor one at that, its the SVP of operations and his cronies as well as the piss poor sales teams that have screwed the company up.
WMS, frederick dist, Bleiswijk dist, Solid, Attune, Viia7, plant reporting structure, instrument manufacture, all championed by ABI leads and all massive failures
"Just let AB go back to the awesome company it was before Invitrogen totally screwed it up"
Who's kidding who here? Yeah, ABI may have been great at one time, but the company was run into the ground by the time IVGN swooped in to start feeding on the carcass. I understand that you enjoyed ABI when it existed, but stop engaging in revisionist history. Whether it was bought and gutted by IVGN or just left to die under its own bloated weight, ABI would have ceased to exist either way. At least this way you're miserable but still have a paycheck and the FC folks get to whine and bitch about how much they hate IVGN and how much better their former, failed company was.

"Everyone at Life can kiss my entire ass!"
You are out of line here. Ass-kissing privileges at Life are exclusively reserved for the CEO, with the VP of HR first in line.
Everyone at Life can kiss my entire ass!
All part of the grand plan to make LIFE a virtual company, with only intangible assets. GL is well on the way, LIFE = 69% intangible, ILMN = 19% intangible.
GL just leaning out the organization including the NBV and Capitalization. So, no worry, it is not possible to go to zero without bankruptcy.
"After 2 years' intergration, the total value of LifeTech is almost less than than legacy AB. What a great performance! GL=great leader!"
GL is a magician. Give him your equity and he will make it disappear.
