coming B4 year end.
I want a relationship with your boss too. Is she purdy?
Ok so you need to kiss up to the boss, and get a work from home career going at LT. It's better than stuffing envelopes and pays 6 figures. You see I had a previous relationship with my boss and she totally hooked me up. I got compensated extra signing on because my commute was over 50 miles, and also given a reloc package, which I used some of but shhhhh... never really reloc'd. Now I work from home as a FAS, but not really. I pick my own trips but with a new addition to the family, i'm picking less and less and getting paid more and more ;) Can you guess my initials?
After 2 years' intergration, the total value of LifeTech is almost less than than legacy AB. What a great performance! GL=great leader!
This guy seems a little over paid and a bit too old for the performance that been shown....
Improving the "Human" condition!! How about improving the "Employee" condition?? Just let AB go back to the awesome company it was before Invitrogen totally screwed it up. I want to enjoy coming to work again!!
I am pretty sure there will be no sales meeting, why get all the sour folks together, let tempers cool down after this next round of layoffs, let every one get corporate amnesia and start off in a year and a half, when everything is truly in the shits.
"There will be no more layoffs, for now!!. We have decimated morale with this last round. There are no morale left and we can not achieve our goals with just air. I will personally take a paycut, rather than doing more harm."
It doesn't matter because Life keeps on selling based on fake fear and they even managed to trick CDC, your tax dollars at work:
This page brought to you by George Lucas
Pity that none of the sequencers are currently registered as a diagnostic in the US. The PGM, is a far cry from being built to minimal ISO standards, and promoting your kids in a marketing campaign is totally mindblowing. Dont you think its a bit of a conflict of interests when the VP of IT kids are 'diagnosed' with this rare genetic mutation on the instruments the company he works for sells.
anyone know where the next round is, or is it across the board again?
This is too bad
More pink slips out...2 to 3% gone in another round of layoffs at the end of this month.
Has any one worked out how many $s Life makes from reagents for sequencers that are "nearing the end" ? where do the new $s come from ?
This is crazy, how can a company who spends time reducing employees to crap while the CEO loads up on virtual cash, can honestly say they care about any human infection. Seriously, has the world gone so mad that while some cheap salesjob CEO cashes in, the world will be a safer place ?
This is mad, it is also very embarrassing to see public servants take part of this crazy marketing scheme. I guess in times of cut backs, there is no better solution than politicizing science and no better partner then Wall Street... Shame on you CDC. No wonder the Tea Party questions your vaccine work, you are alienating everyone now...Well done.
Stop bashing the beta site.
Life should be proud that after 3 years they almost have a site which would make the average college IT student envious.
Get your asses in gear !!!!
Every blog, tweet and independent web sites are saying how nice the machine COULD be and how disgusting and aggressive your marketing is... Get some scientists in, get the bullshit out.
Also, listen to the people who want longer reads, get those protocols out NOW! Doesn't matter if it takes 3 more hours of ePCR, these folks don't care.
Finally, get your production asses sorted out, how can you be on back order for some of this stuff ? Did the fat Invitrogen pig put his ugly face in your business ?
Don't you ever learn ?
Also,is it normal that I want to see the company I work for, completely destroyed ? I enjoy every moment of it's painful humiliation. This is because it seems the only way to remove GL and his musketeers.
They better put all chips on semicon sequencing, the new sequencing boss has never run, seen or understand Solid or Cap Seq. Also, plan is to remove almost all FAS by next year, how brilliant is that?
The reality is that it doesn't really matter how you sequence and also, semiconductor sequencing has little unique patents, it can be replicated and it will. In the meantime, why doesn't he deal with the new 250 spec the miseq is getting during 16s RNA.
By the way, anyone seen a One Touch lately ? Ever wondered why the cost was so low, someone here was talking about throwing shit over the fence, just watch that beautiful IVGN product in action... Again, great concept, horrid execution.
"Have you ever seen a little kid pulling a heavy cart? That is Greg Lucier now."
I saw a retarded man pushing a large rock once. That was BB.
Have you ever seen a little kid pulling a heavy cart? That is Greg Lucier now.
I'm curious why GL is still here, since LIFE have so bad stock performance.GL is too conceited, and very cunning to play finacial tricks to cheat Wall Street.PGM is the only one he can boast now, but he never know or care about how to sell it to the market. Even PGM is a good machine, it'll eventually be destroyed by GL, by his terrible manage ability.Things will be much worse by end of Q4. Only when GL is no longer the CEO, then the stock price can be raised again.Currently, our price is not lower than $30 just because there're still some good employees, who are still loyal to AB or IVGN, and still working hard for this company.
So, GL was quoted today:
"Because of these improvements to semiconductor sequencing, as well as the long-term potential of the approach, Lucier said that the company is "putting all chips into Ion Torrent" and predicted that light-based sequencing, on which its own SOLiD and Illumina's sequencers are based, "is nearing the end."
"Nothing can compete with semiconductor sequencing in terms of speed, economics, and simplicity," he said in a breakout Q&A session at the conference.
Installations of the Ion Torrent PGM are "exceeding our own estimates," he said. The company has gone from "zero to tens of millions" of dollars in sales in about 12 months, and "we're just getting going," he said."
Agree, disagree? Is light based sequencing finished? Are PGMs flying out the door?
Actually, Ion Torment is really quite original....
But how can that be? How could Apple possibly show itself to be a better run company than Life Tech?? Impossible! Life Tech clearly wants to be the Apple of biotech and that's good enough for me. Their product names are incredibly original. iBlot, anyone?
"Check out this wonderful piece of work, marketing gone wild:
The accomplishment of being able to integrate two websites in just under 3 years is astonishing. No wonder Wall Street is impressed.
In 100 year time, Apple will make a good case study for exeptional leadership. LIFE will make a good case study for failed leadership. I can see the book title "How to run a good business to the ground and get rich doing it!". And yes, I do work for Apple and now an ex-shareholder of LIFE. Look at them intangible and goodwill metrics. Horrid management.
one company 8 sub companies, and all dont talk to eachother. Didnt even know that novax was still a brand, it was acquired about 15 years ago, they sold them under the IVGN branding.
And how many products are common across the 8 brands ?
Integration - where ?
all AB instruments, all designed with no planning, no supplier agreements etc, no structure, no quality and all a bottomless pit where the money was dropped into, so that they could get them to market quick. They get to market and were crap why is this we ask? Because they didnt plan, didndt design, didnt document, didnt do prototypes, and threw the crap over the fence with some pixie dust and hoped it worked. No wonder Hitachi havent put their name on the 5500
Attune, Solid, Open Array, Via 8, what a joke... Check out this wonderful piece of work, marketing gone wild:
Open Array is a disaster
SOLiD is a disaster
Attune is a disaster
>>""Life Technologies by Ion Torrent, J Rothberg CEO. That would turn around the whole company. All the recently laid off people should buy a PGM with their severance and compete for the $1M prize."
>Congratulations, you are officially the biggest idiot douchebag in the history of the universe. Please go die in a fire."
Really? Bigger than GL or JR?
"Life Technologies by Ion Torrent, J Rothberg CEO. That would turn around the whole company.

The comments on this listings have slowed down, but the few that do make it thru have taken on a much more tortured tone. If you read the current postings for BCI-danaher or pfizer, you read a similar shock, dismay, and disappointment over the mismanagement and gross negligence that LIFE once had. I think LIFE has gone beyond that now to shell-shocked/vietnam vet state. The constant aimless change and bad decisions have taken their toll and has tortured most LIFErs so much that they have no hope and just want to be put out of their misery. I say...don't despair. There is a way out of this mess. The BoD needs to do their job and end this cult of lucier. Go to the stockholders meeting and tell the BoD how bad things have gotten. As the man says, "start a revolution!" It's time to put a steady hand on the tiller and one that has a freakin' degree in Biology, so they will have some idea about the complexity and the challenges some of these products/technologies really have...And as a result will have a better idea when some kissarse is being accurate or trying to blow smoke up their pie hole...No more cheerleader. Take your pom-poms and your undeserved 33million and leave. Time for a grown up to take the helm.
When I started at Life, change actually attracted me. The idea that you would constantly shift and adapt was appealing if done the right way. I figure I would do much better then my AB colleagues set into the same ol ways. Then I realize, we were building nothing, the level of deconstruction was ridiculous and by the time you realized that, you would a manager and bean counter say otherwise. Real costs aren't calculated at LT. They want to measure everything, it's like a religion, but they never measure pissed off customer, street competition and bad s&h. They certainly do not measure the complexity of their own measure. Sure enough they are now measuring their own measures to realize that nothingmakes sense. This company as you know it is history !
As an small time investor, I heard that the organization chart at LIFE is a living document. LIFE re-org, re-engineer, re-align monthly. This is a sign no vision at the top. How do the institutional investors not see this.?
Is GL a jedi master?
I have heard layoff rumors as well but this time in Austin. I guess Carlsbad and Foster City have been hammered.
Well the +1% strategy was a fiasco, it is now my understanding that a rep can do whatever he wants, price wise. However, there is no system to fix the mess: a customer might get a price on the web, over the biobar and from a rep quote, all 3 different (let alone if it stocked or not, special order or if there is a special re-stock shipping SKU of 10$... ItÈs a grand mess and this is why cutsomer is fleeing. Basically if you have been a loyal Life Tchnology- Invitrogen customer, you are being robbed, daily. There are tons of folks getting bulk pricing for one time order at a much better price than you, you my friend, are the cash cow for GL... This is learned the hard way, when all of a sudden, 25K units of taq or MM goes to Qiagen.. hu ho...Ya that customer was sick and tired of your pricing.
Life was and is a cesspool of the scientific community. Lay them all off and let them struggle now. Teach em all something.
Pretty sure organic growth will be impossible because they are already cutting to the bones the measures they had set forth...
I thought LIFE's organic growth strategy was price increases, fuel and handling charges and "expedited" processes fees (paying for slow processing and delivery relative to their competitors, rather than the the "free" really slow service). I wasn't aware there was a strategy for product improvement or new product development...
Pretty sure organic growth will be impossible because they are already cutting to the bones the measures they had set forth, less than a few quarters ago. The most recent programs are being screwed up. Nothing is moving, no one has any belief and everyone knows there is THA list.
Greg Lucier never had his hands on the wheel and left guys like PL and BB to drive, complete incompetence. They also have a bunch of business analyst who know absolutely nothing about the numbers... It's so sad really, Miseq will start, IT is already seeing back order issues on some components (of course, what did we expect), I just wished Miseq had this toy like feature so it would close Life Tech once and for all.
Also, quite funny that the Miseq actually has a working Iphone app. Talk about delivering versus pure marketing. LT should also close all Solid activity immediately, this is negative business. No one is buying them anymore, same thing for that piece of crap Open Array. Stick to your base idiots ! RTPCR and Sequencers (the ones that work!).
Everyone knows there will be more layoffs at the end of every qtr until LT can turn things around with real organic growth. What is unknown is how much more meat can be carved until you hit bone. It looks more and more like "marketing transformation" will be deemed a failure and marketing duties returned to product management. They certainly can't do any worse and it will save a few bucks until the next round of cuts.
"More layoffs coming at the end of the month."
First comes spring and summer, but then we have fall and winter. And then we get spring and summer again.
More layoffs coming at the end of the month.
"Barclay's sums it up well and then add all of the operation screw ups to that, lack of proper integration of IT systems (info technology), lack of proper O&S fulfillment, lack of moral"
You forgot the incredibly bad benefits package. Even Costco checkers have better health benefits.
Plain and simple the place isn't run with any intelligence at all. It's all a game of vision to these guys, "what does it look like to the people who come visit once a year". Now that management can't hide the problem any longer they run around threatening the employee because they pay them so much to make the necessary changes, funny!! But honestly nothing will most likely happen because it starts from the top with leadership teams that just react to the situation and can't simply get a grasp on the reality of the problems. Good luck with the endeavors of LT.
