coming B4 year end.
This thread is epic and should be used as model for predictive business modeling. Everything on this thread is true, the fears the jokes the ridiculous the destruction.
Seriously. I am conservative realistic and would say 90% think he is a f45khead, not just a happy idiot but a true AO in the worst way. I mean he not only kills the business but goes on and beyond bullshit levels. It leaves everyone speechless. Go hang yourself dirty freak. I once travelled with him and he kept talking about his watch collection and I think I saw a boner in his pants. This guy is a freak.
Newest rumor is we are gearing up for another major acquisition.
Universal......Lucier is hated......he will end up upside down in a ditch in his stolen sports car....That would be Faraday Lucier shithead
Would any LT employees care to venture a guess as to how widespread the sentiments expressed in this thread toward GL and Sr. mgt are among the rank and file? 10%? 50%?
If it's more than 20, you guys are screwed.
Perhaps a LBO really is your only way out.
Same thing happend to me in Carlsbad at the exact same time.....15 plus years of kicking ass and then a PIM......I will join this suit. BTW...I quit and went to a real company.....the company I built..INVITROGEN....died the day GE took over FU LUCIER....BTW.....Most of my former employees are asking me for a job.....way to go you looting piece of shit
Poor Greggie and his scumb bag VP's.....Go to your sky box and get a free beer, complements of your employees whom you have no respect for. Resign now dipshit.
It fuels my passion to continue to push the boundaries of science.
In the same way that Murdoch has pushed the boundaries of journalism. Sometimes that wall around the cesspool is there for a reason.
GL stars in a tragic comedy. This is an insult to science and mocks an already sad state of predictive medicine. It's sad in so many ways.
Many funny things about the latest Luciferian drivel. First of all the ridiculous and frankly offensive grandiosity in asserting he personally is doing something about conditions like this - "improving the human condition" as it were. Then of course he is once again inviting us to feel sorry for him - along with the sympathy we feel for the pain in his heart over the stress and trauma of destroying people's lives.
I know I will ask my kids to say prayers that GL remains healthy despite his burden of an imperfect genome, and I'm sure this will bring them rapturous joy even though we are now spending their college money to live on thanks to GL.
So that explains some of the poor decisio making - early onset Parkingsons.
Seems more like Alzheimer's
I was laid off this last round. Anyone seen the LIFE show today?
LIFE Facebook Post: "Our CEO, Greg Lucier, discovers he has inherited a risk of developing Parkinson’s. Mr Lucier said: “my experience highlights how personal genomics is beginning to reveal vital medical information. It fuels my passion to continue to push the boundaries of science. This is very personal for me, to fully participate on the leading edge of an entirely new way to diagnose and treat disease. I am not just a bystander.”
So that explains some of the poor decisio making - early onset Parkingsons. GL also forgot that LIFE doesn't actually do science, just tries to bleed scientists to pay high prices for crappy products.
Wouldn't it be so FUN to hack Life Tech's facebook page and post what is really happening? Oh wait, that is this thread. I think we need a LinkedIn group called "Scarred for LIFE" for all the recent evacuees. :) So glad I left that shitty LIFE behind!
Check out current cases v Life Technologies for wrongful termination related to age discrimination and retaliation. One such case can be found here http://bit.ly/q8fACx. (San Mateo, CA)
Sure glad senior management hit their synergy targets and got paid their bonuses! well deserved...NOT!
and the layoff was loud because it was deliberately trumpeted to convince skeptical investors that the cost savings would drive earnings back up and make the stock rise.
When the stock went below 50 I predicted there would be a very public layoff almost immediately, a prediction that was insulted as worthless by one of the usual bootlicking LT lackeys. I wonder if the lackey is still there or was caught in the vortex of the latest flush. Well the tank is filling for another flush soon anyway...
"So still lay offs at LT?? so that time, is it global and to engineer level??"
There is never a time at LT when there are no layoffs. They generally happen every 2-4 months, though they are usually silent. The difference with this most recent RIF was it was a little more high profile and affected most departments. It was however by no means the largest RIF, just one of the loudest.
"Dudu, and it takes that long to figure out? This is a not a tech firm. Like a fund manager, he and his minions buy company, cut redundancy, appreciate market capital, buy another company"
Appreciate market capital?? The opposite has been the case.
There are bees and there are wasps. LT is more like a parasiting wasp. They don't build anything.
Dudu, and it takes that long to figure out? This is a not a tech firm. Like a fund manager, he and his minions buy company, cut redundancy, appreciate market capital, buy another company. What is lacking, interest in growing organic business, respect to knowledge, sympathy on people. Wealth is built for selected few, on a pile of body bags. And you'd think anyone cares? Grow up.
Its the perfect GL example. IT has the knowledge and staff, they are just badly managed without guidance. The people are there, they just need to re focus and drop the bullshit. Any manager following cheesy goals should be shafted for keeping quiet. Instead GL wil decimate everythingand lose previous knowledge. At life it's always been about 1 small step forward and 2 big cost saving step backwards. In the end, every dept bleeds.
I would say the 5500 will be almost shut down if not already. The 5500 alone should have made GL step down. He totally messed it up.
I wonder how much JT got paid for losing so much money. Customers who sticked to LT because they hated ILMN got a serious reality check on that one.
"IT department will be gutted with layoffs in October and then again before the Holidays. Upper management has made the call. Selected IT Leaders will be forced out due to incompetence. Middle managers without experience will be let go. Action must be taken to turn IT around. I hope these actions they are finally taking will help turn our company around. I have been there for many years and do not want to see it ran into the dirt. Why didn't upper management take these hard lines before with all the Indian-hires-Indian-only regardless of skills? This has badly hurt the company and wasted needed research revenue."
You mean IT as in Information Technology?
"...you were out (or will be in the next round coming in December)".
So still lay offs at LT?? so that time, is it global and to engineer level??
"...Why didn't upper management take these hard lines before with all the Indian-hires-Indian-only regardless of skills?..."
Why kind of bullshit logic is this. What about the good-ole-white-boys network at Life. There are plenty of highly accomplished and highly qualified Asian scientists and engineers working for white managers who are much less qualified. There is definitely a glass ceiling here. You don't see that. You must be blind.

Oligo is already being mfg in Pleasanton for years. Oligo is just like commodity and is getting cheaper. Once the margin starts to get low enough, watch out, LT will close Pl too. It costs too much to keep a site open for just a couple hundred people and not doing much except making oligo.
Oligo mfg move to Pleasanton. This is old news. What mfg? Why on god green earth would mfg move to Eugene or Austin? Mr. Dum Bass.
"it was announced this week, mfg moved to pleasanton, eugene, and austin"
Who was this announced to? I didn't see this.
I FIGURED IT OUT!!!!!!
GL has a gambling addiction. He buys companies, sucks them dry of their assets if he can't find the BIG SCORE, then uses the funds to buy the next company and the next. He wants the BIG SCORE more than anything else in the world and nothing matters except that. The companies that he buys don't matter, the people whose lives he disrupts and wrecks don't matter. It's all about him, which of course we all know. That's why the narcissistic videos.
it was announced this week, mfg moved to pleasanton, eugene, and austin
Gotta love the Obama hater. Semiliterate and full of the drivel of Sean Hannity. The name calling, really adult. NOT
Then why do they keep remodeling?!
Left hand, meet right hand... Oh, sorry, this is LIFE. It's everyone for themselves. Whatever it takes to look busy in a quest to improve the human condition.
"Foster city will be shut down by dec."
layoffs will continue till year end. Foster city will be shut down by dec. Solid is dead, and anyone involved in it are being ionized, or let go. Ion torrent will not replace SOLiD as it costs about 20K to do the sequencing. GL you really messed this one up, but then you did the same at GE.
Im glad I got let go, ive heard that whatever moral that was left in the toilet has been flushed down, and the screws are still being turned. Its only a matter of time before they get bought out, and GL can get a nice package, and maybe take the lifeshow on the road with Leddy at his side.
6 max, usual is weeks per year
what you meant to say was "change" will happen, it has. For the worse. More change will happen.....guys like you will see to it by trying to claim Jimmy Carter...err Obama is actually a good President. Worst ever.. bank on it.
"i hope that guys like you that try and distort facts also lose credibility. P.S. if the Jimmy Cater shoe fits, wear it"
Hope all you want; it won't happen. No amount of partisan spin, personal attacks or deplorable English on your part will hide the fact that in both your posts you never actually made any point.
i hope that guys like you that try and distort facts also lose credibility. P.S. if the Jimmy Cater shoe fits, wear it.
"actually you are wrong about social security but do not let facts get in the way of your poiunt of view. The GOP has a lot of faults but so do the Democrats and Jimmy Carter....oops, I mean Obama"
It really bugs me when supposed adults have to resort to childish name-calling in order to make a point. I hope you realize that by calling Obama "Jimmy Carter" you immediately diminish the credibility of your argument....not that there was actually any credible argument there in the first place.
"Does anyone know how many were women vs. men? Because all of the names I've heard so far were women.."
In our department the cuts in permanent headcount were skewed more towards men. It was 50/50 if you count the temps. I very much doubt it was a gender issue. If you were middle management or if you were part of a team whose project lost funding, you were out (or will be in the next round coming in December).
Taking LT private is the perfect way out for GL and his gang of bunglers. Nobody will know how lousy the results are except the private investors. GL will still be able to go for Governor, and then President, and then Dictator of the World after he and his bunglers start WWIII. Sarah Palin doesn't sound so bad...
actually you are wrong about social security but do not let facts get in the way of your poiunt of view. The GOP has a lot of faults but so do the Democrats and Jimmy Carter....oops, I mean Obama.
Actually Social Security has a lot of money, and can cover 100% over the next couple of decades, and about 70% + afterwards, unless the GOP lets their Wall St. friends get their hands on it.
Life has an Enron problem that it is hiding...kind of like our social security fund. No money in it - like Life's 401K plan, yet money is funneled over to cover. BIG Problem that can sink Lucifer and LIFE - goes unreported...for now.
Should Life Technologies Go Private?
Worries that spending by the National Institutes of Health could slow down have hit companies that make scientific equipment, including genomics firms like Illumina, Complete Genomics, and Pacific Biosciences.
This morning, analyst Jon Groberg at Macquarie Equities Research is suggesting that Life Technologies, one of the largest players in the space, should go private. He says that investors in a leveraged buyout (LBO) could make an 20% internal rate of return even if they paid a 60% premium to the stock’s current price. Could the efforts of chief executive Greg Lucier, a General Electric vet, and the bet on the cheap-to-buy Ion Torrent DNA sequencer (useful for getting quick Polariods of germ genomes) finally pay off? Because right now LIFE’s stock is not doing very well.
We think LIFE is the most undervalued asset in the Life Sciences space. 2H2011 organic revenue growth is likely to actually accelerate, if only moderately, from 1H2011 and unlike many of its peers, LIFE’s 2012 estimates look reasonable even if the economy enters (or is already in) another recession. Finally, LIFE screens as an attractive investment from an LBO perspective given its stable revenue base and FCF generation.
The flip side: this means that investors are not rewarding LIFE’s stock right now. Groberg says the company is “attractive on virtually every valuation metric” but he lowered his price target on the stock to $59 from $65 because the multiple given to the stock is shrinking. LIFE currently trades a $35.65, just 35 cents above its 52-week low.
You have to wonder what hallucinogens they are taking.
Does anyone know how many were women vs. men? Because all of the names I've heard so far were women...
"just was laidoff at foster city no heads up no severance been there 5plus years.. total joke.. nevertheless my attorney will feast of lucifers ass"
Were you laid off or fired? Maybe you were fired and that's why you didn't get severance? What did they say you did?
only way people like this get their just desert is to hit them in the pocket with a good ol relevant lawsuit!!!
just was laidoff at foster city no heads up no severance been there 5plus years.. total joke.. nevertheless my attorney will feast of lucifers ass
ha ha ha ha
How are the new 401K mutual fund choices working out with all of the market turbulence? Did I dodge a bullet moving my money when I left the company?
