Life Technologies from Finance Director's view. The company is the most horrid place in the world to work. Period! Scientist, Operations, Finance, etc. The employees had their healthcare not just downgraded, but moved to lower than that of MacDonald's workers. (no offense to fast food workers!). 401k some odd moves that are yet to play out. When I am in the women's washroom talk is always of how much the company just sucks.
How has Life Tech done with all of its mergers? Horrible! Look on different websites, Glassdoor.com and other. Most employees are miserable at this company. Our 5500 SOLID is getting the stuffing beat out of it by Illumina. We know our product is more expensive, slower, and late to market compared to our competitors. ION Torrent. Those poor b*stards! If you work at Ion Torrent and you have talent, run....our ship is sinking, save yourself!
Why they keep the head of benefits, after two boneheaded moves is beyond us. Hey Lucier, listen up, give up some of your salary to improve our benefits (highest paid CEO in San Diego), so you can keep some of us that helped you get than D*mn salary! Also, outsource your benefits department, starting with Paloucci!!!! Oh and use some of your salary for some platform shoes! Never worked at a company, where I am afraid to get sick, because not sure the benefits cover me.
The CEO does not give a d*mn about us. He consistently ignores employee complaints, not just in a minor way, but to where our internal "happiness" scores show an entire company looking to run out the door. Here where I work in Carlsbad, and have been here for a number of years, only the Greg Lucier Synchophants are left as pro company fools, telling him what he wants to hear. At least they are finally taking my recommendation to get rid of Foster City employees due to their higher salaries! Only, those jobs aren't coming here to Carlsbad, they are going to China!
So wait til our employees find out what our Execs have been working madly at! That is right, major China outsourcing. Our midget CEO like a dummy tried to sell it as a good thing at our last company-wide meeting, "we are going to China to develop a presence", only he left out the part, that everyone knows we are working on, that is to ignore US employee gripes and eliminate the jobs for China, as Chinese won't complain about benefits, pay, treatment. The huge layoffs, with jobs replaced in China will start in the 3rd quarter, that's a promise. Expect Life Tech technical know how to go out the window, when the Chinese are tasked with doing our Research and Development.
In the meant time we sell ourselves to government customers as a US company, full well knowing we are outsourcing the whole dang thing to China.
Lucier or as we call him internally Lucifer, needs to go! Of course he will take many of us, hard working companies that with us in favor of Chinese jobs. How he ended up being paid as the highest CEO in San Diego is just a wonder.
The best thing about being at Life Tech, is knowing that when Lucifer is forced out, it gives us a glow to know he will have millions of dollars to take with him and his golden parachute.

How is it that the top management team is so lost - the mergers and acquisitions by Life are the only things keeping this company going for now - there is no intelligent R&D efforts for next-generation products, just a method to ride the existing IP into obsolescence.
The Marketing team is another area of dubious distinction, hiring so many people to fill the role of CMO - as the top people lack skills and need help, but have consistently hired the wrong people. Not knowing your job leads to hiring imbeciles who don't know what they are doing and with leadership void on the employee moral front - it is a matter of time till Life sinks into a company that could have changed the world - if they could have only changed the inept nature of the senior leadership.

The Punjabi research University here seems set to create a research record of sorts by allowing a research scholar to present his pre-thesis research submission seminar for grant of a doctorate degree within three months of his registration in the Department of research Biotechnology. Lalit Dhir, working in a research biotechnology firm in in the United States, applied for research registration as a research scholar, and he was allowed to present his pre-thesis submission seminar on January 29 this year. With this, the candidate is now eligible to submit his research thesis anytime within three months. The issue is being hotly debated in research academic circles on the campus with faculty members insisting that the entire research procedure was being done in undue haste. The university research authorities, however, insist that there was nothing wrong as the research seminar was held at the risk and responsibility of the research candidate. Moreover, they say, the research candidate is yet to file a formal research application for time waiver for award of the degree by taking into account the time spent doing research work, which now forms a research part of his research thesis.Four members of theresearch faculty of the Biotechnology Department boycotted the research seminar expressing reservation about the way the entire research procedure being rushed through.Among those who stayed away from the seminar included MunishPuri, RamSwarupSingh, NeelamVerma andParveenBalgir. Two of these research faculty members said that that they had conveyed their objections to the research head of the research department but their objections had apparently been overruled as the university research authorities after initially postponing the research seminar held it two days later. They insisted that the research scholar had not conducted any research in the department. Moreover, the experiments purported to have been conducted by thresearch scholar, took months.
