Not sure what will happen in sales and the reorg. I hope I am laid off. I will take my severance pay and have another job in under a month. Another advantage is that I will not have to listen to another 'heartfelt' voice mail from DH thanking us for all our hard work.
Thank you Mr. Sincere. I feel better now and I am much more motivated.

best to dissolve pfd now that JS is gone. Most of the product lines fit better in other divisions. get rid of all the managers he hired/promoted as they are all his cronies and it will immediately improve the top and bottom line.

"Does anyone know if there are any new, innovative products in the pipleine in LSG with launch dates?"
Keep in mind LSG annual porfit is around 25 Million, which can go easily to ZERO if couple of new products such as Proteominer beads(expensive to market, yet nobody is interested) launched.

So why doesn't management gut LSC (there's lots of unproductive folks in that group)? It seems to work for many American companies right now. Lower the overhead.

To get LSG on a better path that nimrod duo of PC and BC should be sent packing along with all their cronies. Not likely to happen. If the founders truly understood how badly those two have messed up their company.....

'Profitibility sucks, hmm. I am being told something completely different by someone who has worked there 25 years.'
Let me spell it out for you and your friend from the Q3 SEC filing. For the 9 months ending september 2009 and 2008.
Revenue LSG CDG
2009 440.5M 839.4
2008 473.1M 832.4M
Profit LSG CDG
2009 25.0M(5.7%) 119.0M(14.2%)
2008 28.2M(6.0%) 109.4M(13.2%)
CDG revenue and profits increase from 08 to 09 while LSG sales and profit both decline. Your friend needs to learn how to read a the financials.
The stock is going up b/c of the market momentum and CDG performance which is now 2/3 of the total business.

Our Life Science segment sales were $440.5 million, a decline of 6.9% compared to the first nine months of 2008 or a 1.2% decline on a currency neutral basis.
.....As a result, our consolidated sales expressed in dollars benefit when the U.S. dollar weakens and suffer when the dollar strengthens. When the U.S. dollar strengthens, we benefit from lower cost of sales from our own international manufacturing sites as well as non-U.S. suppliers and from lower international operating expenses.

I'll be honest, I don't see how what he says can be true. Better companies than B-R are suffering in this recession.
So, who has information that attests to how B-R is doing financially? Does mngmt really want to unload Life Sciences? My buddy's biggest fear a few years ago was that they'd get picked up by Invitrogen.

That be the problem. Anyone who has been in the same company that long (25 years?!?) has lost all perspective on how the market actually is. Just a few years in the same company makes knowledge grow stale very quickly.

Why do you think there are plans to sell life sciences? Hey, I'm not a fan but what I hear is their business is doing just fine. Hard to believe in this crummy economy but they must have the right mix of products and lots of loyal customers. What else could it be? Innovation? Not so much...........

There are no buyers, so who can I sell to? Customers are smart enough to know that a high-priced me-too product is no better than a lower priced equivalent product, no matter how much we try to convince ourselves.

I heard BC and the division managers dressed up as leaders for Halloween, that way no one would recognize them.
Really, what a bunch of bumbling idiots running LSG.
Where are those new products, improved pharma sales, customer focus, etc? It's all a lot of empty promises. Soon, all of LSG will implode due to poor leadership.

Exactly. Proteon is another in a long line of LSG acquisitions that have underperformed in both revenue and profit. Management should make an announcement that both seldi and proteon will be discontinued at the marketing meeting next week. Don't know if they actually will.
