Have they become that irrelevant in the industry, or are they that perfect?
Will they get rid off SEDLI and Proteon this time?
Not sure what will happen in sales and the reorg. I hope I am laid off. I will take my severance pay and have another job in under a month. Another advantage is that I will not have to listen to another 'heartfelt' voice mail from DH thanking us for all our hard work.
Thank you Mr. Sincere. I feel better now and I am much more motivated.
what is happening in Hercules now that JS is gone? Reorg?
Layoffs will come to Hercules very soon.
Not just France. They have laid people of in sales, sales support and IT all over Europe the last couple of weeks.
Not sure about Hercules
"BioRad France to layoff some of its workforce
Submitted by Anonymous on Sat, 28/11/2009 - 14:21 The Rumor Mill BioRad France Company Employees Number
Town Halls (last thursday and friday) confirmed the recent rumors: BioRad France will layoff some of its 1134 employees. Rumor has it that it could be close to 10%..."
How about Hercules?
Lovin it! LSG is going down! :)
It seems RP from LSD's R&D will be forced to leave soon.
Any other news about top management changes?
best to dissolve pfd now that JS is gone. Most of the product lines fit better in other divisions. get rid of all the managers he hired/promoted as they are all his cronies and it will immediately improve the top and bottom line.
you will be assimiliated, resistance is futile"
Since JS has gone, what will happen next in PFD?
Will JS' buddies such as SC in Seldi unit quit or be laid off as well?
any word on the sales org reorg for next year?
It's a mess
"Does anyone know if there are any new, innovative products in the pipleine in LSG with launch dates?"
Keep in mind LSG annual porfit is around 25 Million, which can go easily to ZERO if couple of new products such as Proteominer beads(expensive to market, yet nobody is interested) launched.
So why doesn't management gut LSC (there's lots of unproductive folks in that group)? It seems to work for many American companies right now. Lower the overhead.
Does anyone know if there are any new, innovative products in the pipleine in LSG with launch dates?
And who would you suggest to replace BC and PC?
To get LSG on a better path that nimrod duo of PC and BC should be sent packing along with all their cronies. Not likely to happen. If the founders truly understood how badly those two have messed up their company.....
what company would possibly want to buy LSG?
"So sell off LSG and reinvest capital from the sale into CDG will increase returns per dollar invested by about 200%?"
Norm, are you asking for advice?
So sell off LSG and reinvest capital from the sale into CDG will increase returns per dollar invested by about 200%?
So whats the best way to look for job openings in the CDG division?
'Profitibility sucks, hmm. I am being told something completely different by someone who has worked there 25 years.'
Let me spell it out for you and your friend from the Q3 SEC filing. For the 9 months ending september 2009 and 2008.
Revenue LSG CDG
2009 440.5M 839.4
2008 473.1M 832.4M
Profit LSG CDG
2009 25.0M(5.7%) 119.0M(14.2%)
2008 28.2M(6.0%) 109.4M(13.2%)
CDG revenue and profits increase from 08 to 09 while LSG sales and profit both decline. Your friend needs to learn how to read a the financials.
The stock is going up b/c of the market momentum and CDG performance which is now 2/3 of the total business.
Our Life Science segment sales were $440.5 million, a decline of 6.9% compared to the first nine months of 2008 or a 1.2% decline on a currency neutral basis.
.....As a result, our consolidated sales expressed in dollars benefit when the U.S. dollar weakens and suffer when the dollar strengthens. When the U.S. dollar strengthens, we benefit from lower cost of sales from our own international manufacturing sites as well as non-U.S. suppliers and from lower international operating expenses.
SO LSG sales is down, but benefited from recession???
October 21st, 2009
Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. (BIO) recently hit a new 52-week high as the global economy recovers from last year’s drop.
I'll be honest, I don't see how what he says can be true. Better companies than B-R are suffering in this recession.
So, who has information that attests to how B-R is doing financially? Does mngmt really want to unload Life Sciences? My buddy's biggest fear a few years ago was that they'd get picked up by Invitrogen.
That be the problem. Anyone who has been in the same company that long (25 years?!?) has lost all perspective on how the market actually is. Just a few years in the same company makes knowledge grow stale very quickly.
Profitibility sucks, hmm. I am being told something completely different by someone who has worked there 25 years. Maybe he's delusional, but that would be a first......
I don't think Life Sciences as a whole is going anywhere. I don't doubt that certain products/prduct groups will be cut loose.
Bio-Rad Cell Science was closed down and sold to Carl Zeiss in 2004.
Bio-Rad life science is next to be sold naturally.
why sell life sciences you ask. B/C profitability sucks compared to diagnostics.
Why do you think there are plans to sell life sciences? Hey, I'm not a fan but what I hear is their business is doing just fine. Hard to believe in this crummy economy but they must have the right mix of products and lots of loyal customers. What else could it be? Innovation? Not so much...........
Have Norman found buyer to acquire LSG yet?
There are no buyers, so who can I sell to? Customers are smart enough to know that a high-priced me-too product is no better than a lower priced equivalent product, no matter how much we try to convince ourselves.
Stop talking and go sale LSG products !!!
I thought the new PCR plastics would save LSG.
The new minigels will save LSG!
I heard BC and the division managers dressed up as leaders for Halloween, that way no one would recognize them.
Really, what a bunch of bumbling idiots running LSG.
Where are those new products, improved pharma sales, customer focus, etc? It's all a lot of empty promises. Soon, all of LSG will implode due to poor leadership.
"Thanks. do you know why? sales not meeting expectations ?"
Exactly. Proteon is another in a long line of LSG acquisitions that have underperformed in both revenue and profit. Management should make an announcement that both seldi and proteon will be discontinued at the marketing meeting next week. Don't know if they actually will.
I agree -he acts like your best buddy, but it is easy to see through it.
Thanks. do you know why? sales not meeting expectations ?
I've heard rumors saying that Bio-Rad was to discontinue the Proteon instrument. Has anyone got relevant info about it?
an announcement will be made during the meeting at the end of this month
I like your comment about the San Diego manager - he really is full of sh*t!
So how is the start of quarter 4 going so far?
With the products they have, it's a miracle anyone managed to hit their numbers.
Not great. Some reps did well, but most did not. Is it the products or the sales person?
what's up with people in PFD? They all seem to be paranoid every time I talk to one of them. None of them seem to be very cheery either.
How were Q3 sales?
