To be perfectly clear, Todd's behavior did NOT cause his termination......far from it.

TRN was the only competent one at the table. The only reason this deal got as far as it did was because Todd was a professional and he knew a good fit and he knew the Art of the Deal.
When you look at those 2 parking lots full of new cars, there is Todd Nelson to thank, not Witney or the others.

Dude, seriously, the failure of this deal has absolutely nothing to do with eBio or Todd Nelson. It falls to the incompetence of the Affy Leadership. They has such a poor understanding of their business they appeared to forget that this deal changed the terms of a note Affy sold to an investment group. This is a simple and clear example of an incompetent leadership team, including the board of directors. Due to the lawsuit and subsiquent settlement, Affy does not have the capital to qualify for the loan terms previously negotiated.

So, all this said, target your anger at Dr. Nelson elsewhere. His behavior, which caused his termination a year prior to this acquisition, has nothing to do with the failure of this deal to close. And, no, I am not an eBio employee. I work for Affy.

The only thing Witney is trying to "salvage" is his absurdly high paycheck and ridiculously large bonus. Witney doesn't deserve 5% of what he's being overpaid.

As I understand it, neither company did due diligence and the deal has fallen through.
This leaves a great deal of uncertainty for investors on both end of the stick.
It's a shame because the EDD is already replete with useless lay-abouts sucking up entitlement benefits.
When all these Affy/Ebiosciences rejects are thrown out on the market, it will just mean more taxes for the rest of us. That is the real tragedy here. The homeless shelters are already full of cheese-eating free-loaders. This just adds to the problem.
Witney should have to donate some of his bonus to help out the homeless shelters.
That is the least he could do.

Well to be fair, Whitney is just trying to find a way to salvage what is left of Affy, even though this did seem a bit far out. Affy's business, credibility, finances and any semblance of future prospects were destroyed long ago by the immaturity and incompetence of the most senior people, especially the scientific founders but also the simple minded, business-technique-of-the-week commercial org. Unfortunately most of those guys are stinking rich and off poisoning other companies while others are left trying to knead through by hand the enormous pile of crap those guys left behind in hopes of finding a gem or two still stuck in there.

Pretty sad state of affairs for Affy. How embarrassing that this, once market leader, can not get financial backing to make an acquisition. Regardless whether you think eBio is a good buy for Affy, it is shocking they can't close the deal. It really shows you how poor leadership can wreck a company. I don't see how Witney keeps his job after this disaster.

I can't see how this deal makes any sense for Affy and is pure cash out for ebio. Good luck to all involved.

A very dumb idea, but this just shows Affymetrix continuing to waste money on companies that will never benefit anyone- Panomics, USB (worthless), and True Materials (what ever happened to them?).

I would love to see their financial statements before saying anything....I don't like hearing that Affy was in the hole for 10 million though.

This is an sbsolutely crazy marriage of two companies, it makes no dollars or sense. eBIO will be gutted just like Biosource was by LIFE.
