Aperio

I'm interviewing with Aperio right now and would appreciate any views on the company - thanks

I worked in the main office

I worked in the main office and they use and abuse you. Do whatever you can to join another company in the space. They won't be around in 2 years, is my guess.

If you take a Job With the

If you take a Job With the Big A. Especially in the main office in Carlsbad, make sure you read this and study it. Know it better than the back of your hand!

Put it this way Aperio has

Put it this way Aperio has such a NO-Understanding of the market that they actually have an ad in this month’s CAP that makes no sense. It shows a Doctor standing at a bedside talking to a patient. On the Doctors tablet PC is a whole slide image. When does a Pathologist talk to a patient? Why would a doctor have a full size image in front of him? This was pointed out to me by one of my clients. He though it was the most ridiculous ad ever in CAP. Come on JS you should have proof read this!
The thing is the photo of that blonde in the DP article, kind of makes up for it. I think she is in their marketing office.

aperio employees are treated

aperio employees are treated very badly - not a good company to work for

Glad you canned me a few years ago....NOW I GOT YA!!

from the inside.... keep

from the inside.... keep looking the time here has passed.

Oh, I agree. They have been

Oh, I agree. They have been bragging to us about their new software. It really is the same old software with a few bugs worked out. They are so far off in the Anatomic Pathology clinical Market that they should stick to Research.
I am even frustrated with the updates to the research platform. I waited and waited for this great new Fluorescent Scanner, and it is so slooowwwwwwwwww. I think I am going to look at Mirax or just get another Fluorescent scope!
What happened Aperio, we really though you would have become the Ventana of the Digital Imaging world. Now I feel like you’re the BioGenex!

As an Aperio customer, I have

As an Aperio customer, I have no idea about the internal management situation but am concerned about the lack of anything new coming out. Aperio used to be a very innovative company with a huge lead in the space but has not created a new useful product in over three years, allowing the competition to over take them. We are now looking to upgrade our digital pathology platform and have been very disappointed with the lack of anything new form Aperio, especially alarming considering the price, so are moving onto one of the newer vendors. This seems to me as a company that grew beyond its capabilities and is now on its way downhill. I would not personally want to be stuck on this sinking ship.

Don't join Aperio - good

Don't join Aperio - good products for sure but as other posters have said they don't care about employees and this really lets the company down. MS is certainly one major aspect of this issue (he'd actually be more suited to owning a 19th C cotton mill). His HR skills are archaic and he continually demonstrates a total inability to either negotiate or communicate change which is extremely demotivating for his staff. The sales department at Aperio is consequently a very negative place to be right now, no one is happy and most are looking to get out

It's interesting to find so

It's interesting to find so many ex-Aperio here. I'm one as well. For awhile I had doubts about my decision to leave. The events of the past several months have erased those doubts. The other commentors are spot on. Although still the market leader, they are on the path to becoming irrelevant in the space. I heard that they had a new round of layoffs and reorg of sales team.

Aperio Sucks!!!

Aperio Sucks!!!

I'm ex Aperio and just came

I'm ex Aperio and just came across this thread the last poster is right on the button and i'm wondering who you are. MS is a really big problem for the company, not out of his depth i would say, but just he has no understanding of people and how to get the best from them (emotional IQ stuff). His attitude would be 'what's the minimum i can give you and still be above the law? I would say don't work for this company unless you have to, there are many better employers around - ie most others!!

I would say be careful. On

I would say be careful. On the whole this has been a good company to work for, I left around 6 months ago and enjoyed my time there. Joining aperio right now though is a different proposition entirely. the company and the market has really outgrown the capabilities and vision of the senior management team and the current strategy of focusing upon the US clinical market is IMHO doomed to failure. There are also other changes going on such as reconfiguring sales and inside sales which shows a clear lack of understanding of aperio's customers or market. DS and KH among senior management are very competent but AB and MS are clearly out of their depth, particularly MS who is heading up sales right now. He is widley known for poor communication and lack of hands on ability. he has little respect from the sales team and this is leading to key sales people moving away from the organisation. My guess would be that there will be an exodus of sales talent from aperio this year to the new upcoming competition, Philips, Leica etc. Probably this company has reached its peak right now and you may be joining a sinking ship. Beware that's all!

I worked there for a while.

I worked there for a while. Great coworkers and some of the management team are fairly competent, although many are there based on loyalty not ability.

Don't expect much from the stock options - the pool is pretty diluted, and except for 'founders' or executive-level options, not worth much.

Other than that, the company has a known name in that industry and the technology has that "wow" factor.

I have heard nothing but good

I have heard nothing but good things about Aperio. Great slide scanners as well
