Another one bites the dust... Beckman buys Blue Ocean. Good luck boys, you're gonna need it! I wonder how many people at Blue Ocean are former BC that thought they had gotten out, only to get sucked back in.
Anyone know the details of this deal -- how much paid, what BC plans to do with the company, why Blue Ocean was willing to sell out? Must have been desperate for cash. With the proximity, I have to assume the Blue Ocean facility will be shuttered and all resources assimilated at Hialeah.

How much could the deal have possibly been for? If the system is only available in Europe right now and has a limited installed base and revenue, and, in the end it is just another cytometer with nothing really proprietary, how much cash could possibly have been spent?

This acquisition shows that Beckman is unable to develop anything new and must acquire technology from others to continue to exist. History shows us what happens to the acquired company assets, technology and employees. History also shows us how quickly Beckman can destroy the acquired firm.
Blue ocean medical was
Blue ocean medical was formerly called as NPE systems. They are the same folks who had made the quanta SC and Quanta MPL flow cytometers and marketed by BC. Strange they were given the contract for CELLIOS but was taken away from them by BC. Now BC is buying their CR version of load and GO system of cytometers. Blue ocen operates out of pembroke pines and has ex BC people. They have a good tech and patent on their electronic volume flow cells.
they even built a system and sold it to icyte called as ECLIPSE
BC must have thgt there was no way to beat the 800 pound gorrila caled BD so better to acquire more flow companies and see what happens
