I'm glad I got out of BD when I got the chance. The entire time I was there, all I heard was "we have no money, poor us" after making billions in profit each year. A few of my friends lost their jobs from this layoff, but they'll be better off in the long run. There are so many better places to work than BD...

Jay Glasscock, President of $1 billion Cell Analysis Business Unit in San Jose was let go after 24 years and 10 months at BD. VP of Marketing, Lativia Ray-Alston was let go a could of months ago. A number of middle managers and first line salesreps go the axe too.

That would be nice. Instead of making the pawns redo slides multiple times, while they play with their Blackberries during the meetings. VPs and some presidents are a useless bunch. They are ultimately responsible for the numbers, yet they let hardworking worker bees get the axe. Tired of watching them selling off their millions of dollars of stock. Money that the affected employees they let go, can only dream of.

Diabetes Care is part of

Diabetes Care is part of Medical systems and gave at the office Thursday. Only a few people were let go in Diabetes Care and it is over. PAS didn't lay anyone off Friday and Biosciences started the blood letting earler last week. Don't expect anything more from Biosciences and Diognostics. Also don't think the company total was anywhere near 500.

The whole thing sucks but don't think we need mis-information out there.

BD Medical let go of 500 people worldwide n thursday 9-22. On friday 9-23 they hit the PAS division with layoffs. Rumor has it that BD Diabetes care, Diagnostic Systems and Biosciences divisions are having layoffs beginning monday of next week.

I used to work at BD FLKS for

I used to work at BD FLKS for many years. I left to further my career but a big push was all the layoffs lately. I figured it would be better to start looking after surviving as many layoffs as I have. Anyway, the old BD was great. The holiday parties, the alumni association, the company picnics...all have been slowly reduced and or eliminated. As they say at BD, change happens...but I have very fond memories of BD and it is because of BD I am where I am today. My advice is to get with the times and only stay in a job for a few years and move on. The days are gone where you could stay relevant in your career sitting in the same position for 40 years. Things I do not miss are the ghetto parking garages, the horrible speed bumps, the unnecessarily high security presence lately, and some of the leadership folks. Sorry to those who lost their jobs, Good luck out there. There are greener pastures out there.
