Relaible sources state that there is a plan to merge Takara and Clontech brands into one company by the end of 2013. Takara brand products will become Clontech products. Products and staff duplications will be eliminated. One site is slated to close. As Clontech continues to struggle in the Biotech market it was determined that the two companies did more to compete against each other than to complement.
