The infallible Danaher Business System is driving Beckman associates away in droves. The DBS metric, retention of top performers, will soon have no top performers to measure.
Experienced associates have all been "leveled", morale is at an all-time low as Danaher shows it places no value on scientific knowledge and experience.
Danaher's core values are nothing but empty phrases. "Associates are our most valued assets." "We're passionate about retaining, developing and recruiting the best talent available."
What did Danaher actually buy - soon there will be nothing but empty facilities. The talent has left the building.

Move it all back to

We've already heard about the demise of Brea manufacturing. What's next Chaska, Miami or even Indy? My money is on Chaska. The only thing ever developed there was DxI (Access was developed by Sanofi) and DxI is getting pretty aged. Don't expect to see anything from Chaska molecular diagnostics.
Got to hand it to Danaher a
Got to hand it to Danaher a group of guys that never produced anything turned a company that doesn't make anything into a huge corporation by snatching up companies that had a bunch of educated morans ruin good companies. So you can't blame that elite group of people in Washington who just suck off the cash of those companies by cutting cost. It's the executives who preach pay for performance for everyone but themselves. They do find no matter how they perform. They all leave as multimillionaries. It's a bunch of crap that you ave to provide stock options and high salaries to get the best talent. If that were true companies like Danaher wouldn't exist.A homeless guy off the street could have done to Beckman what Scott Garret and his group of stooges did!
So very right about Quality
So very right about Quality and Regulatory management's lack of competency and experiences! With no desire, courage and knowledge to shake this highly political and polluted environment. Wish them Good luck fooling each other and their Danaher big bosses.
Brea Manufacturing or whats
Brea Manufacturing or whats left of it will be moved to Indy this year just to support spare parts and rebuilds of old DxC's. No new products out of Brea, no surprise there.
It's interesting to note that the 1980's CX Instrument can do all of the tests that the DxC does. All Brea has managed to do over the years is just re-skin old technology.

What did Danaher actually buy - soon there will be nothing but empty facilities. The talent has left the building.
The talent was let go a few years ago. Sorry to say that the folks left have not a clue what they are doing as was outlined by the FDA audit of the Brea facility.
It is obvious that the top management in Quality and Regulatory have no idea what is required or no interest in fixing the problems.
Sad to see a once great company killed by greed by VP's.

severance will end on 12/31/12
Did the filling not say something like "current severance package will remain in place until 12/31/12."
I don't recall them saying it would end. It is just subject to change.
My guess is it will be reworked to current market standards.
As for the retiree medical coverage, the devils in the details yet to come.
The change from a defined benefit pension to a defined contribution has no affect on those out the door prior to the end of 2011. This change could really bite future pensioners if the market goes south or people make poor investment choices.
The BCI pension was frozen at
The BCI pension was frozen at the end of 2011, the retiree medical will be replaced by monetary compensation for current active participants and the severance will end on 12/31/12. This is all noted in the SEC filing made by Danaher when they bought BCI.

I wouldn't say protecting people that cover their butts as much as it is pure outright favoritism throughout the BCG culture. I whole heartadly agree with the bad management all the way up to the VP level.

I worked for BCI, I the vast majority of sales, apps and service were really devoted to the company. Working many more hours then what they were paid for.
The DBS don't interview employees when they purchase a company. They let the actual company managers decide who stays. When you have a company like BCi that upper management drove to th wall it's a call for disaster. These people have no clue. And it's the same WW, especially in Canada

"...I would like to see a governing body that actually performed inspections on all companies frequently rather than waiting until someone really messes up. That would be a much more proactive approach in protecting the public interest."
How about a business that walked the talk... say you provide exceptional customer service and then actually provide it. Say you are ethical and then actually promote ethical business practices. Say you have innovative quality products and then actually design and build them that way.
I'd rather see businesses promote quality and ethics rather than practicing FDA avoidance, especially just prior to FDA inspections.
Danabec got rid of the most
Danabec got rid of the most of the "lazy entitled and unproductive" employees over 6 months ago. Since then
Lots of posts about how workload has doubled on the survivors. Only about ten percent or less were let go. That math doesn't work.
No product releases. No getting out from under the fda. More active and productive?

Animosity towards my manager, no. Animosity towards Becdanaher, Yes. Yes. Yes.
Becdanaher pissed on my bread and butter accounts at least once a week. So much so that ten years worth of business/personal relationships were strained to the point of rupture.
Fortunately I landed ok, better job, but less pay. Upgrade overall. I am still trying to make amends to my clients for the actions of Becdanaher.
My customers are smart. They understand why I left Becdanaher, and why they should as well.

Unfortunately, RC is still
Unfortunately, RC is still working for Beckman. He's now on the DXN or molecular platform in. I really hope he doesn't screw this up! I truly thought he was going to be gone after the Troponin blew up in his face. He probably deflected his full responsibility to someone beneath him and had him or her fired.
It's gotten to the point
It's gotten to the point where people are literally begging to be laid off! What does it say that "Retention" is a high priority goal for BCI management????

Anybody with marketable skills is out interviewing. Like the original post said, Danaher will soon own nothing but empty buildings unless they strategize how to retain scientists.

RC, how's that troponin working for you now?

Wouldn't this require a new submission for every assay?
BEC is a failing situation,
BEC is a failing situation, that's why they were sold. DHR was the only real bidder for BEC. After the last round of bidding PE was the highest bidder but Goldman understood that PE's offer would not be in the best interest for BEC share holders. So DHR was able to up their bid by $0.50 at the last minute. There was absolutely no interest shown from any other major party after the first round of bidding. Big money players who understood the business wanted no part of BEC.
Customers understand that DHR could (would) walk away from BEC if they can find a buyer. Lets say in China, India, Saudi Arabia etc. What other fatal quality issues are waiting to be exposed? Fatal defined as a customer can't make money, or run a test from their instrument. All DHR is doing now is applying band-aids. That is all they can do today. Even if DHR committed to address all of the quality issues it's going to be a four or five year process. A day late and a dollar short. All things being equal, which they aren't, would BEC really be the go to company if you were a core lab or large hospital? No.

Ah too funny. If you are
Ah too funny. If you are still at BCI you don't tell it like it is. Remember in the movie "a few good men" when jack Nicholson takes the stand?
When he says "...you want the truth? You can't handle the truth..." this is how bci and danaher managements act
"software . . . that will
"software . . . that will allow for automatic correction of assay values due to changes in ambient air temperature"
Band aid solution. You can't fix a cavity by taking aspirin to handle the toothache. Determine why ambient air temperature impacts the assay values and you'll know how fix the problem. Oh, wait a minute . . . there was a guy there that figured all of that out years ago. Took him about a week. He's not part of the new organizational structure for some reason.

I worked as a sales rep for
I worked as a sales rep for danaher until recently. That thing about blaming employees and sales people I heard it through and through.... The truth is actually the opposite BCI has really good sales rep that take beatings every day for the shortfalls created by danaher's decision. Danaher has not convinced anyone that they care about the customers
Omg. A perfect little danaher
Omg. A perfect little danaher soldier. The customers are the only real judges of a company and they are running fast away from danaher. A ompany that just cares about money
This is my perspective on the
This is my perspective on the whole Danaher acquisition.
Danaher is really good at acquiring companies and standardizing the management of its resources to improve the productivity of its employees and lower costs to the organization. Although it sounds like a bunch of kool-aid that will potentially doom the company, I don't think so. All of the negative threads about DHR are from many who really need to move on because they are about to be let go or were let go because there was not a place for them in the new organizational structure.
I think there is less heat from the FDA because they cleared the glucose issue, the ISE issue, and Troponin is pending FDA submission. They passed their plant inspections. The troponin is most likely will be released in the field by the end of this year. Vitamin D should be coming soon thereafter or about the same time.
There will be software for the DXI that will allow for automatic correction of assay values due to changes in ambient air temperature.
It looks like they should also have the connected DXH and SMS by the end of this year too.
All in all, the DHR acquisition just gave them a kick in the butt to get moving on the important things to remain competitive.
I wonder if the the FDA will now focus on Siemens.....
First ad homonym name calling
First ad homonym name calling then vague threats that "something bad" will happen if you keep up. Sounds like a bunch of 12 year olds. Guess it works though. Dhr threads have been pretty quiet.
Really, when was the last bit
Really, when was the last bit of actionable intelligence posted here?
========
The original poster's plea was actionable:
Hand the reins to technically competent and experienced employees.
Remove the bureaucrats and abusive executive management.
Base decisions on science rather than mindless timelines. If we have time to do everything over, why not do it right the first time?
LISTEN to those with experience and knowledge, instead of those with brainless empty promises who lie about what it takes to be successful (in order to claw their way to the top over Beckman's dead body).
[Making BEC look bad in front
[Making BEC look bad in front of customers is reason for termination with cause]
Well then, there you have it. Time to lay off executive management and clueless DBS drones. How much worse can BEC look to customers than when associates are forced to follow the death march directives from these tyrants?
My understanding from the
My understanding from the current group remaining at BEC is that DHR has let employees know that if your ip address can be traced from a site like this back to you, bad things will happen. Even on you own time.
Making BEC look bad in front of customers is reason for termination with cause. Sharing anything which can be interpreted even remotely as inside information will also result in bad things happening.
DHR has a division which excels in this spying. Even if you use a proxy with enough effort ($) you have a 50-50 chance of leaving a trace.
So most of the in-house folks stay away from this and other bitch sites(no offense to biofind intended)
Really, when was the last bit of actionable intelligence posted here.
And as the previous poster said, to be fair
"in fact BEC/DHR sucks"
The Danaher people and DBS
The Danaher people and DBS are not as much an issue as the incompetent BCI management they have left in place. They are redefining "clueless" on a daily basis!
You know I have spent all my
You know I have spent all my life working in a manufacturing environment and can only say the posters calling others by be littleing names are not to be feared. If they are the face of the "New" Beckman/Danaher we can see where things are headed. For those still employed hang in there as you will be there long after these people have moved on to the next company to feel their wrath. Yes, I am one of those "whinners" that no longer works for Beckman and have landed solidly on my feet.
Oh...another WHINER!!! BOO
Oh...another WHINER!!! BOO HOO!!! Hey if it is so bad...GO GET ANOTHER JOB!!! DBS will rule the losers...and winners WIN!!! GET IT???
This poster has rather low self esteem I would guess. Maybe just lost in the bottle. Obviously poster does not work for BEC/DHR because nobody left at this point gives a damn. Its only a paycheck, nothing more.
And yes, in fact BEC/DHR sucks.

Great analogy. Fits perfectly.
For the all-caps shouter and DBS cheerleader who no doubt has never heard of it, Dunning and Kruger received a Nobel Prize for their study entitled, "Unskilled and Unaware of It: How Difficulties in Recognizing One's Own Incompetence Lead to Inflated Self-Assessments".
Two of the first fours posts
Two of the first fours posts are ad hominem attacks. Tells a lot about the new and improved company culture. Sounds like terminal adolescence with the MBA Dunning-Kruger effect running wild.

Typical Danaher response to dismiss any intelligent input that might improve chances of success.
The NASA engineers who warned of the faulty O-rings before the space shuttle Challenger disaster were also dismissed as whiners.
Good luck on your death march with your fingers in your ears.
