Danaher executives roaming the unguarded fields of Beckman Coulter

President and CEO of Danaher, L.C, was sighted in three geographies on different continents during the last 10 days of January. People familiar with L.C, find it very normal for a person with a distinct energy and appetite for details to make such moves, however, the places that he was sighted at, puts L.C’s energy into a different perspective when it comes to Danaher Healthcare and Life sciences plans.
L.C’s noticeable stop was in the Middle East where Beckman Coulter’s executives and senior managers have forgotten that part of the map and kept away from the place that didn’t fit their cultural and ethnical exclusive mix. Danaher has shown yet again that they could be the real change into Beckman Coulter's locked minds and one should expect serious restructuring into BC international making soon.

it's great to be outside of a

it's great to be outside of a toxic environment that is based on outright lies, the usage of fear tactics to "motivate" the workforce, and a cutthroat mentality of frustrated mid-level managers trying to keep their heads above water. For those of you that remain, look in the mirror and blame yourself. There are plenty of opportunities out there, regardless of what you may think.

"wasn't their messing around

"wasn't their messing around witht he formulation to reduce HA interferences that caused the FDA to step in"
fda stepped in cuz outside temp changed results but thats just a symptom
cause is known or rather was known before they showed institutional knowledge the door
with docs now saying less psa testing what does access DxI offer?

Too much time wasted on a

Too much time wasted on a company that is worthless.
The one thing in common between Beckman and the Titanic while drowning, is the drama around it.

Any word on the release of

Any word on the release of the Troponin for either Access or DXi? Once they obtain that approval, they should be officially off of the FDA's radar. However, doesn't the assay still have problems with cross reactivity with heterophile antibodies? It is really tough to block all HA; however, wasn't their messing around witht he formulation to reduce HA interferences that caused the FDA to step in? Or, was it a whistle blower?

Tires would require

Tires would require investments in R&D; Brakes would be a better choice and they already have an established milking strategy for it.

BCI has been a bad investment

BCI has been a bad investment for Danaher, they should have spent the money on tires.

-DHR needs figure out BCI

-DHR needs figure out BCI quickly (translation - spend money buying products for BCI to sell) -
Ahhh, the WalMart model. No wonder everyone is an associate. Should be interesting to see how it plays out in the diagnostics-biotech market.

Big nasty danaher, comin to

Big nasty danaher, comin to get ya. Big nasty danaher, routing out oldies.

Look at how the pension schemes go down.

Look at how the severance pays not known.

In the morning whats the danaher mirror say.

In the morning hows the danaher school run play.

Is the danaher santa claus on its way?

Hope not coz hes a raging sweaty vindictive... Swine

Who in their right mind would

Who in their right mind would shell out $6,000,000,000 or so for BCI at this point. That's a lot of zeros.

DHR needs figure out BCI

DHR needs figure out BCI quickly (translation - spend money buying products for BCI to sell) or take the loss, sell BCI, and move on.

"...what became important, as

"...what became important, as anticipated, is to make the numbers."

Terminating the highly-compensated and highly-incompetent BCI VPs would greatly improve the numbers.

L.C and many from his team of

L.C and many from his team of senior VPs got excited about BCI but that did not last and what became important, as anticipated, is to make the numbers. Yes, there has been a big change in BCI, everyone became a door salesman.

"Continents are drifting

"Continents are drifting faster than Danaher talks of change since they bought BC."

LOL. Truer words were never spoken.

Danaher believes continuous kaizens will produce continuous improvement.

But given that the same BC executives as before the acquisition are driving these kaizens, the results are also the same as before:

Endless meetings, revisions of all previously agreed upon decisions, bedlam, freefalling morale, like watching a trainwreck in slow motion.

Change out the VPs, Danaher.

Who is S.A., first name

Who is S.A., first name Scott?

Danaher hasn’t been able to

Danaher hasn’t been able to make a dent in the BC operations. Continents are drifting faster than Danaher talks of change since they bought BC. And if by moving G.H of the emerging markets into a more comfortable job behind a desk is considered an achievement, let’s not waste the time because every move is obviously a bailout of the incompetents and there are many.

S.A is the MAN!!!

S.A is the MAN!!!

I still can't believe SA has

I still can't believe SA has emerged out of this intact...?

You must mean Mr Teflon? nothing sticks to him however the past catches up with us all at some time just may take a little longer for the Teflon coating to scratch and start to lift. Then the s**t will stick to him and this will be his down fall. The sooner the better

I still can't believe SA has

I still can't believe SA has emerged out of this intact...?

He is not the only to be

He is not the only to be blamed for the unfortunate events in BC Turkey. look for E.P who covered up the financials in 2008 as Finance Director and later interim GM Turkey and decided not to tell C.Beav in the U.S of the mess! of course he wouldn't do such a thing alone and without the motivation of J.A; it takes two to tango. J.A must have told E.P at this time " Dance with me in Istanbul and I will help you get back to Versaille.

If J.A is that controversial

If J.A is that controversial why is he still around?

The Talent retention and

The Talent retention and financial problems are not exclusive for BC Turkey; they are everywhere in J.A geographies. People are running away from the negative energy that the look and think alike brought into the Emerging market operations. It is a shame that Danaher hasn't paid attention to the HR records in Nyon recently , they can easily see that resignations in the fields operations are countered with lucrative increase in packages and changes in titles just to hold the ground instead of addressing the reasons for such moves. Finance and diversity have always been the strong banners of the European Emerging markets leader, and yet most of his problems are financials or cultural (not to say descrminatory) .

are considered two distinct

are considered two distinct operations at this point. Essentially the same umbrella shared by two people

A very tiny umbrella, Like the ones you get in your cocktail.

It's impressive to think

It's impressive to think Turkey has direct biz.

The news is correct, BCTR

The news is correct, BCTR will be shut down and the country will be fully distributors market as soon as possible. They are saying it is because of the tough business environment etc…. but the truth of the matter is that Nyon run out of people who are blindly loyal to J.A and willing to cover his never ending mess by accepting the usual intern GM position in Istanbul. In addition to all that, Nyon wants to get that entity disappear and avoid the mounting court cases against it by former employees and the government. . Someone should spell boomerang to Nyon

is it true the news about

is it true the news about Danaher closing Beckman Coulter Turkey direct operations for good?

they are considered two

they are considered two distinct operations at this point. Essentially the same umbrella shared by two people.

"Does Danaher distinguish

"Does Danaher distinguish between the diagnostic and Life Science sides of the business? Treated as one company or two."

Bump. Sorry but I need to know.

"...record revenue..." and an

"...record revenue..." and an internal message to BCI employees that they have to get their act together and deliver within the industry profit norms...because, as they were told, BCI is way below the acceptable level of profit generation.

No news here. It's going to take a long time to get BCI turned around. My guess is a full 50% of the current staff will have been turned over.

DHR has to be kicking themselves in the ass for not walking away when the FDA showed up a few months before closing the BEC deal. S.G. and B.H. may be slimy bastards but they sure pulled one over on DHR.

Danaher announced record

Danaher announced record revenue and profit. All made on the back of the poor bci employees. There are many ways to kill a man and massive lay- offs are one of them

"trying to recoup millions

"trying to recoup millions bet on a lame horse"

which horse was it?

Customers vote on the changes

Customers vote on the changes with their $$$! I say no more.

Have sales not continually

Have sales not continually declined year to year since SB took the position??

Gotta agree with you on that

Gotta agree with you on that one!

It is rumored that the

It is rumored that the Turkish BC financial troubles are far from over and that a new audit by Danaher will soon take place based on newly leaked information by former employees and the revealing of documents provided to Turkish court in the handling of the fraudulent use of a former GM signature by the sub after his resignation.

Working here is like watching

Working here is like watching The end of WWII. The commander barks orders to his chiefs who know they can't do anything as there are too few bodies left to fulfill the mission. But being all 'yes men' , all they do is bully those left to work even longer and harder knowing the entire time they are working with no plan, no supplies, no ammunition. We are exhausted working these long days, nights, weekends waiting for bullets that never come from PD or manufacturing. War Rooms are a waste of time as no one ever fixes the root cause of many of the problems. Restructuring was one big chainsaw massacre where some of the bad managers when eliminated bumped the next guy down the ladder so we now have a bunch that don't have a clue what they are doing as they have no diagnostics, product or field experience. The only thing they were/are good at is setting up conference call after call so they can get someone else to do their job.

L.C should make a stop in

L.C should make a stop in Turkey and possibly call J.A to join him and explain how he could hide the BC Turkey financial scandals.

He should also take S.A the U.K. manager with him to explain his dealing there.

a quiet dark Brea is no

a quiet dark Brea is no surprise to anyone. those corrupt leaders with the help of an army of opportunist consultants, dodged another FDA inspection. And everything is back to normal, which means continuation of broken policies and discouraging & non compliant practices.

Completely agree about

Completely agree about SB...Fear and intimidation are indeed the tools he uses best ... Its all he's got. Yes a true raging a$$hole!

Unfortunately with the bumper crop of spineless managers at Beckman, fear and intimidation is a great tool.

T.J. has to be concerned about his own butt about now.

Who's the fall guy going to be? Look out below.

S.A still around? Difficult to be positive about a change if the corruption is still in the heart of the operation.

How is it S.A has not been implicated with the problems in Turkey surely the illegal activities took place while he was in charge?

I guess that is what danaher

I guess that is what danaher like people that rules by fear with no knowledge of diagnostics. It's even worst with LB in Canada. A good friend of sb actually. There's not one sales rep that have any form of respect for him

We can say the same about S.A. in U.K Sales and service force have no confidence in him

With nothing in the R and D

With nothing in the R and D pipe it makes sense to look in to markets where you might still be able to sell twenty year old technology

Completely agree about

Completely agree about SB...it's hard to believe that he has lasted this long. What quality exactly does Danaher or anyone for that matter see in him that is deserving of the position he has? Fear and intimidation are indeed the tools he uses best and in this day and age...that is a tired and short lived way to success. He is without any field knowledge, short tempered and short sighted.

"Before looking for

"Before looking for opportunities outside the US, LC should first heal what is injured and bleeding, his US sales organization."

Oh dear, The world is not only the US. Worldwide, the money made or lost

No matter how much LC travels

No matter how much LC travels the world, it will not address his biggest challenge, which is his US sales organization. The US Sales organization does not have a chance as long as SB is left in charge of US Sales.

SB is cancer to their organization. Why do you think people are still leaving or have their resumes on the street?

It is hard to understand how JN can allow such incompetence from a direct report. SB continues to lead by intimidation, fear and arrogance while having very little knowledge of the diagnostic business.

The sales organization has NO TRUST or respect for SB.

Before looking for opportunities outside the US, LC should first heal what is injured and bleeding, his US sales organization. Many people had high hopes that JN would have seen the major gap in leadership and taken care of it by now. This obviously didn't happen.

It is only a matter of time before TJ sees the hole. The company needs to make a change in Sales Leadership before it can have a chance for greatness.

A bowler report can only show so much. It doesn't identify the lack of trust people have in their assigned "leadership".

Discouraging
