I came on here wanting to know if anyone has seen the new DAY-Medical System? I'm told it is a team from DiaMed that have totally revamped and evolved the old system into something amazing. Any news would be greatly appreciated.

Can I simply ask Diamed users a serious question. I have been a staunch supporter of Diamed technology since day one. However has something changed as far as the production of the cards goes? We are used to getting the occasional ropey batch - but the quality seems to have taken a nose dive over recent months. Almost every box we get now the gel in the wells is a mess. Our analyser just can't handle them. Is it just me or has anybody else noticed a difference? I would hate to think the new owners are cutting corners on quality to save money.

yes, the hole will be much deeper to fall.....they tried to increase market share (immunhematology) by additional acquisition activities without success.....after the acqusitions of Diamed and Biotest the big bug lay on the back trying to find something to roll back....lets see how Quotient/Alba can perform in the US

"Are you Ortho in diguise?"
That's very unfair.
I can tell you that what little remaining Diamed staff there are would like to try and do the best they can for customers, however the influx of Biorad overseers and their business ideologies make it very difficult if not impossible to provide the service, support and product quality they once did.
There is almost no original Diamed management remaining, They have all either left or been replaced with Biorad placed personnel.

After speaking to them at the Glasgow BBTS it is clear Biorad are desperate to tie transfusion customers in to contract by offering them the new IH100 analyser. Seemed very keen to just "get it in your lab and let us worry about everything else later".

I think we all agree the new Biorad/Diamed machine is just terrible, hence the reason they are practically giving them away on sale or return, or WORK or return in this case. FYI there are a few on the way back.

Sorry, but you are totally wrong, the product is already finished. And I hope they can change this terrible situation created all over the world market - exclusively by the BR people incompetence! Welcome to the new "DAY"!

Yes, i saw Day Medical'booth and product at ISBT Congress and I am very excited about that. It seems to be a very interesting product, like a "little"gel industry...Let's wait for more news!

Even Day Medical's claims for the Daymate L don't seem that impressive.
"Operates without user intervention".
"Minimum hands on time".
"Manufacturers experienced in blood group serology".
"Easy to use software".
"Full traceability".
You could say the same about almost any modern analyser.
"Result of any test profile in 18 minutes".
Sorry but that doesn't sound all that impressive when you look at the huge size of the analyser and the supposed "leap forward" in blood group serology. Most analyser are of similar speed and a few are actually faster.

Had a good look at the Daymate. It's wierd. Don't see the point. And it is massive. From what I saw it's probaly 5 years away from the finished product.

Why on earth would Ortho buy Diamed? They probably can make more money from the Diamed name while Biorad has it. At least the way Biorad manages it there is no shortage of Diamed customers looking elsewhere, including Ortho.

I totally agree, company employees should keep away from the Rumor Mill. In fact if anything I would have to say that over the past year or so diamed/biorad's products and services to our lab has been anything but "gold standard". The glory days of diamed are over the time has come to look at alternatives.
