This will not end well. Luckily they have friends with deep pockets, but the reality is that they are playing in a commodity market with little or no differentiation. Obamacare will result in reimbursement being cut even further than what is happening now. Customers increasingly are looking to bundle platforms. This company can not standalone and the stock price does not reflect the value of the technology or the business , rather an expectation that a Danaher or a Biorad or a Biomerieux will buy them out instead of Cepheid.

They need to raise money to fund all the expensive hires of late from CG's old company Ventana. Can't see how any of this is going to help them though, this is dated technology and they have too much invested in it to make any major changes.

How about Jim LAF?
Nothing good will come of this for the current employees.
Chris likes to slash and burn and Jim has the personality of salamander.
You know the company is on the way down if Dan B. gets blown out.

Genmark Formally osmetech spend your money and watch your shares plummet if you have money to burn go ahead and buy into genmark and you will be up the creek without a paddle I was tempted by all the hype and the glossy brochures and my 20,000 shares in osmetech have somehow equated down into 9 shares in GENMARK DIAGNOSTICS yippee can't wait to cash them in THANKS

Prior management at Osmetech was laughable (especially their CEO, JW and the VP BD/R&D GM). The CMS platform may have garnered some design rewards, but still is seriously limited in its applicability in today's MDX marketplace. I'll grant them this, the system is better than Nanogen's ever was.

What a bunch of grouchy cynics! The awards in question aren't like vanity publishing where you pay someone to print your poetry and they send you a leather bound book to impress your friends. For GNMK to buy these awards, they would have had to outbid all the other companies competing. With a business that's not yet profitable, do you really think they have enough cash for that?
And MOT wasn't robbed. The sale happened in 2000 when biotech stocks were skyrocketing and all the life science startups were crazy overvalued. They bought into the hype and were burned like everyone else. Of course there are valid concerns since GNMK's not profitable right now, but you sound like rowdy frat boys and former employees with grudges rather than intelligent investors looking at a business objectively!

c/p from from an advisor. This says it all.
GenMark Diagnostics, Inc. (NASDAQ: GNMK) appears to have been one crappy IPO. The provider of automated, multiplex molecular diagnostic testing systems priced its IPO of 4,600,000 shares at a price of $6.00 per share. Shares closed down at $5.40 and this appears to have been down as much as 14% at $4.56 in the after-hours session on Friday. Maybe this one should have been called SkidMark Diagnostics. What sort of idiots trade an IPO debut at 3:00 EST on a Friday? People with skid marks.

Kayyem and Stafford robbed MOT for a cool $280M. Why not try it again with bankers & investors. Let's make sure the joke is on them.

Actually, it's more accurate to say this is a reemergence of an old company, Clinical Micro Sensors (CMS). Motorola bought out its founding CEO, Dr. Kayyem, in 2000, and then sold CMS to Osmetech five years later. However, from 2005 to 2009 Osmetech's leadership sold off or dissolved all of its holdings except CMS, and they all left the firm with the exception of the CFO. Dr. Kayyem took advantage of the economic downturn to buy back in as a primary shareholder and return as CEO. So the organization that was originally conceived in the UK as Osmetech is really no longer the company that exists today in California, thus the name change and transfer from the London Stock Exchange to a US-based listing.

I think you have confused "raising money" with "making money." Each time they raise money (issue new shares) the shares you own by definition are worth less, especially when the company is NOT making any money. Osmetech/GenMark are too late to the party and have made several blunders along the way. Their days are numbered.
