Is this a new Company?
Should I invest in GenmarkDx and why?
Wow nice! How much did you make?
This will not end well. Luckily they have friends with deep pockets, but the reality is that they are playing in a commodity market with little or no differentiation. Obamacare will result in reimbursement being cut even further than what is happening now. Customers increasingly are looking to bundle platforms. This company can not standalone and the stock price does not reflect the value of the technology or the business , rather an expectation that a Danaher or a Biorad or a Biomerieux will buy them out instead of Cepheid.
Don't u wish you bought some stock instead of making these bold predictions? Hah
Pretty much because they suck at MDx marketing or rather market building.
Should clean house of the on ethical ones from Ventana
Check out the stock moron
If he went to work at GenMark he's a fool (the money he made before being asked to leave Ventana, was pure luck...right place, Chiron, at the right time)
New CFO - they seem to last about a year (or less)
I used to work for Hany and anyone who thinks he is a fool:
A)Does not know him.
B)Is an idiot.
C)Is jealous he made like 10 mil at Ventana.
D) All of the above
DING DING DING
No they have been around for more than ten years, last name Osmetech, before that part of Motorola, before that CLinical Microsensors. Ho Hum company that missed its opportunity long ago (them and Nanogen). Management there is a joke, (HM is a fool)
hey all, I used to be just checkin’ out this blog and I actually admire the premise of the article, and have nothing to do, so if anybody wish to to have an engrossing convo about it, please contact me on AIM, my identify is heather smith
I presume this thread is dead, but just in case, does anyone why why anyone legitimate is trying to buy my Osmetech(!) shares?
They need to raise money to fund all the expensive hires of late from CG's old company Ventana. Can't see how any of this is going to help them though, this is dated technology and they have too much invested in it to make any major changes.
And another bucket of slime!
Dan B was an ass and know nothing about molecular! They had to fire him for harassment. He when to PrimeraDX as a VP and was fired there as well for still being the guy with the uncontrollable temper. At least PremieraDX back their team rather then protect Dan.
CG stole some warm bodies from his former company Ventana, but they won't be enough to raise this company from the dead.
BUY BUY BUY... you heard me. None of this dribble matters. Major players converging on this opportunity. HM has rejoined CG. Ventana 2. Mark my words!
Can you say "Pump and Dump"?
can someone explain whats going on i have shares in osmetech bought them yrs ago at 15 p a share ...never heard a thing since genmark have taken over ,...wots the value of the shares now and i have a badddddddd feeling i dont have as many shares now as i did wen they were osmetech
Can you say Chris Glxxxson from Ventana fame?
How about Jim LAF?
Nothing good will come of this for the current employees.
Chris likes to slash and burn and Jim has the personality of salamander.
You know the company is on the way down if Dan B. gets blown out.
looks like the high level terminations continue...
Its nothing but but a spam-post someone slipped in...note the hot link
Does anyone understand that last post?
Tell us something we don't already know, Genmark, used to be Osmetech, used to be Motorol eSensor, used to be Clinical Micro-Sensors (CMS).
Now that is one bitter shareholder. Can't afford to lose, don't play the game.
Genmark Formally osmetech spend your money and watch your shares plummet if you have money to burn go ahead and buy into genmark and you will be up the creek without a paddle I was tempted by all the hype and the glossy brochures and my 20,000 shares in osmetech have somehow equated down into 9 shares in GENMARK DIAGNOSTICS yippee can't wait to cash them in THANKS
Prior management at Osmetech was laughable (especially their CEO, JW and the VP BD/R&D GM). The CMS platform may have garnered some design rewards, but still is seriously limited in its applicability in today's MDX marketplace. I'll grant them this, the system is better than Nanogen's ever was.
What a bunch of grouchy cynics! The awards in question aren't like vanity publishing where you pay someone to print your poetry and they send you a leather bound book to impress your friends. For GNMK to buy these awards, they would have had to outbid all the other companies competing. With a business that's not yet profitable, do you really think they have enough cash for that?
And MOT wasn't robbed. The sale happened in 2000 when biotech stocks were skyrocketing and all the life science startups were crazy overvalued. They bought into the hype and were burned like everyone else. Of course there are valid concerns since GNMK's not profitable right now, but you sound like rowdy frat boys and former employees with grudges rather than intelligent investors looking at a business objectively!
wow, I was looking up an old employer and found this webpage and comments. some of you aren't too far off the target with respect to what is going on there in Pasadena.
Industry awards are a joke. There is no peer review. Pay enough money and you'll get as many rewards as you want.
c/p from from an advisor. This says it all.
GenMark Diagnostics, Inc. (NASDAQ: GNMK) appears to have been one crappy IPO. The provider of automated, multiplex molecular diagnostic testing systems priced its IPO of 4,600,000 shares at a price of $6.00 per share. Shares closed down at $5.40 and this appears to have been down as much as 14% at $4.56 in the after-hours session on Friday. Maybe this one should have been called SkidMark Diagnostics. What sort of idiots trade an IPO debut at 3:00 EST on a Friday? People with skid marks.
Kayyem and Stafford robbed MOT for a cool $280M. Why not try it again with bankers & investors. Let's make sure the joke is on them.
The SEC filings are a laugh, insiders getting options at above the IPO price, more option activity than open market transactions. How many employees anyway?
Any lab managers out there buying this machine? Is this any better than a real time PCR test?
Just released a product platform that got 3 industry awards in 2009. Accelerating the rollout of tests on this platform. Wouldn't count them out just yet.
Actually, it's more accurate to say this is a reemergence of an old company, Clinical Micro Sensors (CMS). Motorola bought out its founding CEO, Dr. Kayyem, in 2000, and then sold CMS to Osmetech five years later. However, from 2005 to 2009 Osmetech's leadership sold off or dissolved all of its holdings except CMS, and they all left the firm with the exception of the CFO. Dr. Kayyem took advantage of the economic downturn to buy back in as a primary shareholder and return as CEO. So the organization that was originally conceived in the UK as Osmetech is really no longer the company that exists today in California, thus the name change and transfer from the London Stock Exchange to a US-based listing.
I think you have confused "raising money" with "making money." Each time they raise money (issue new shares) the shares you own by definition are worth less, especially when the company is NOT making any money. Osmetech/GenMark are too late to the party and have made several blunders along the way. Their days are numbered.
WHY ARE OSMETECH MAKING SO MUCH MONEY, YET WE HAVE SEEN THE VALUE OF OUR SHARES CRASH OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS. I HAVE INVESTED A LOT OF MONEY TO MAKE THE DIRECTORS RICH.
Osmetech is Genmark! Genmark is Osmetech!
stock symbol osmef the British do not think think much of this outfit.
