yes. that is what it said. very interesting deal. for those who know the clinical laboratory, the ivd manufacturers have dominated the laboratory automation as a means of selling reagents. closed automation systems (not allowing competitors instruments to interface to systems at a competitive price) has stunted the growth of comprehensive automation in the clinical laboratory. just consider what would have happened if the ivd folks owned the lis companies.....only connect to the instruments they wanted us too. cerner will promote open automation as a vendor neutral third party. good for our labs and their management
