There's plenty of OE here just go hang out by one of the white boards and you're sure to find one of them getting all lathered up about it. If you want them to come find you just leave signs that say "SHINGO award" this way and they'll be there in a hot minute

Slough wasn't affected, doesn't seem like any other sites cut people either. Curious didn't they say it would be a worldwide reduction? just another lie by the leadership I guess, no surprise.

Things are not going to change here for a long time. Current management will never value the employees here, unless you are on the inside. so you may as well pack your bags.
Don't kid yourself into thinking JM actually cares, he's in this for himself he doesn't care what goes on as long as the numbers are good.
Look at whay happened in November, dead weight or not sacking people prior to the holiday's is rubbish, especially for the sake of making MORE PROFIT. How come we were the only site(s) to have this reduction?
This wasn't business survival, clearly our leaders trumped up this "emergency workforce reduction" to carry out a political agenda, everybody knows it,no one is saying it.
Not everyone let go was dead weight. There's plenty of people in Portsmouth that could have been (and still should be) shown the door.
Lonza is a big machine and they will get away with these business practices regardless of what they say to their audience.
If you can't live with it seek greener pastures like some of us are already doing and stop your complaining.

I agree with that, if it's that bad try to get out, its not good to stay in a bad situation, just because. If enough good people leave then it may force the changes people are saying is needed

I agree with you, but staying in a job where you think everyone else is a slacker isnt good for you or the company you work for, so maybe its time to go, im not being patronizing, in fact quite the opposite, I have been in that situation before and understand your frustration....but unfortunately people rarely change no matter how much you tut and shake yor head in meetings....

That's funny, "If you don't like something, leave",spoken like a true lonza manager.
The real workers are out numbered by the dead weight in this place. If there weren't those of us that actually cared about the job we do this place would have started to sink a few years ago and they would have had to change the upper management.
Any successful recovery we have going forward will be because of the workers, not the decisions made by the current management. About half of them that have stayed too long and are no longer "value added", they should have been outed years ago. They cannot hide forever.
Hopefully JM isn't so far up there that he cannot see what's really going on because MC only cares about himself and SK certainly doesn't care about what goes on.

16 members with Unite? Is this true, where did you hear this? Over a year ago I was trying to convince people to join as I saw where the situation was going. If this is true then it's fantastic, and all I can say is continue the fight back. Look at what happened at Visteon recently they occupied their factory and won many times more redundancy pay they would have otherwise. This sort of united action can really make a difference. Ed Perry and Gordon Bates are cowards, show them the iron fist of the general will and they'll go running for the hills.

They have a Currant Management Team?
Wow. Although I have to say they're doing a bloody good job, the muffin I had in the canteen yesterday had a perfect distribution of both sultanas and raisins.

If Lonza employees at Slough combined to join a union and demanded a voice bosses would be less inclined to throw their weight around. The management are only interested in producing spreadsheets to impress their superiors but when are those superiors going to wake up and realise the underlying problems at Slough. An organised union complete with union representative is the way forward. Join Unite, you can do this on line for less than £11 per month. A number of employees are already members, 21 union members that I know of so far, 16 of them with Unite. You may be glad of your membership one day especially the authoritarian stance of our current management team.

There's buggery going on between the head of manufacturing and manufacturing support lead, there must be. The manufacturing support team are in shambles, always running out of what's needed, yet the lead is never pulled up. Apparently he's also a racist.Apparently he only ever has the black staff put through disciplnary, and even told them not to play reggae on the CD player once.He also dislikes all the plant leads who happen to be Asian or black. Incompetant, rude, arrogant, and racist, yet never pulled up by the manufacturing head: they must be buggering each other.

All the operations talent left years ago, willingly or unwillingly.
Apparently, the management wasn't too concerned about them. After all, morons are much smarter than idiots (and there are far more of them)
Once the cohort of morons is culled, they are open to a logarithmic increase of talent within field of imbiciles.
Of course, the upper eschelons will always provide their endless supplies of candidates!
Then of course, there is a steady stream of university graduates looking for thier first jobs...will accept anything.
I'd say that the field of Human Resources at Lonza is wide open and secure for years to come!
