More Hamilton layoffs for GSK, not a surprise

So the Confederacy of Dunces has struck again at GSK...More layoffs at Hamilton. Let's just hope they have enough sense to get rid of some of their incompetent management. What a show!

ive just cost gsk 25 grand by

ive just cost gsk 25 grand by making a mistake at toothpaste plant cant believe im in distress i need thi job will i get sacked cant sleep too worried about tommorow

I found this webpage and it

I found this webpage and it makes me feel good. I worked at GSK for five years and I can say most of the people on here are correct. Sad thing his there are a bunch of good folks that still work there and are at the mercy of the management baffonary.

Getting the hell out of there

Getting the hell out of there was the best thing I ever did. They just fired the site director- -what a loser that MC was. The upper management at that plant lacks any business acumen (and yes, they are too self-absorbed from being in the Bitterroot) to really have a clue of how to attract and retain good employees. We'll have to see what happens next- -at least for now, the demand for the adjuvant- -and the viability of the projects for the R&D group- -keep this place going. To hell with HR- -they're a bunch of pukes!

Wow, it seems that no one

Wow, it seems that no one here really has access to both sides of the coin. I read trash, but seldom do I see a rationally objective view of an informed person. There sure is a lot of emotion ruling over reality.

They are hiring because of the recent decision for Japan to start using the HPV vaccine to inoculate the population, great news to both Hamilton and Japan!

Hopefully this is just the beginning, as there are alot of old timers there that really want to see their life's work actually do well to the masses, as everyone deserves.

Go MPL!
Go Melacine (remember that Canada?)

I will have to concede to the opinion of upper management’s (local to Hamilton) lack of passion for the real reason that they are there. There are only a few people left in those positions that come from the "Ribi Roots", the others (including myself) moved on to avoid the stagnation that Hamilton and GSK Bio present to their careers. They are the grass roots of the passion, and the key to the employee happiness that is now just a memory.

One only needs to read the

One only needs to read the threads on this web site to get the idea of what a lousy employer they are! Yep, they are good at ruining families- -others, not theirs. It rots from the top down.

OH!! what a show. After

OH!! what a show. After spoiling the lives of 30 families, now they want to hire 30 more people. Please do not work there. They will treat you like criminals and send you home with security clearence.

Uh Oh. . now they're hiring!

Uh Oh. . now they're hiring! Don't do it. . . Word of advice to the UM coeds- - stay out of the site director's office.

Any news about the Clifton,

Any news about the Clifton, NJ site?? Rumor has it that there is going to be a layoff in June, 2011

yup... they get patents &

yup... they get patents & ideas from around the globe and file them

all their ideas are others hard work and all put into their file cabinets

they don't move fast what so ever

GSK moves like a slug and their innovation thinking operates like a slug

close NJ !!!!!

All GSK is really interested

All GSK is really interested in is TOOTHPASTE

That's innovation??? Give me a break guys !!!

Get into something different....unique....novel

There appears to be a lack of vision within their innovation group

Another one for the thread. .

Another one for the thread. . .

I said later to the wacko management at GSK- -took another job- -made more after leaving that dsyfunctional site. Life is good.

Hey if they are hiring and

Hey if they are hiring and you're thinking of working there- -DON'T DO IT! Read all the strings from this post and you'll get a real good idea of what type of place it is to work.

Are they hiring more people

Are they hiring more people at this facility? I heard they are getting ready for more production. Is it true??

You're just making excuses

You're just making excuses for the management! None of the five pillars for running a business exist at that facility. That plant's management all think they belong to the Stock Farm. And HR treats the employees like cattle on a ranch. Enough said... .

"They have to sack all the

"They have to sack all the management people at the Hamilton facility to really turn the things around. I really have no hope for that facility"

you do not work there, you know nothing about the unit or the staff or the history - not sure what your motivations for posting this vague nonsense are (presumably related to biofinds advertising figures). And despite your post containing a self truth i.e. "I really have no hope", can i suggest you take your talents elsewhere.

They have to sack all the

They have to sack all the management people at the Hamilton facility to really turn the things around. I really have no hope for that facility.

Many workers who have

Many workers who have families are feeling the pinch of GSK Hamilton and its incompetent management. Hopefully things will come around- --it is a bleak scene--with the hold on operations until spring, one can only keep their fingers crossed. That MC is truly an idiot- - just like so many of those Amgen folk who are now at other biotechs.

I hope karma will catch up

I hope karma will catch up with MC and his management team for destroying the hopes and lives of so many good families in the valley. I am cursing them everyday for what my family has to undergo by their stupid decisions and misusing their powers.

I heard that Jeff got a

I heard that Jeff got a lawyer and had a case with GSK and his wrongful termination. Too bad about his aneurysm. He was pretty fed up with the upper managements antics well before he was canned. Plus, he had to deal with lots of worthless Bitterrooters and their ignorance. What do you mean, his demise? He was happy to get the hell out of there when they canned him. He had found work elsewhere when he died.

Is this why Jeff is not on

Is this why Jeff is not on this planet anymore? Did he speak and know too much? Layoffs, Plant closures due to contaminated product, animal experiments where they shouldn't be? Grow some balls people, you did him so wrong. Karma will catch up with you. Don't think you've got a cushy retirement, it ain't gonna work.

Why did no one back Jeff. Who

Why did no one back Jeff. Who is responsible for his demise?

it is so true. Majority of

it is so true. Majority of the people who work there have not even gone beyond MIssoula. So they do not know how a Biotech company works and the sad part is they think they know everything and are hiring the wrong people and firing the people who really doing work. Really sad though for those families. The HR team really SUCKSSS!!! They do not even answer your questions about anything.

Poor little MC. Did he get

Poor little MC. Did he get kicked out of that other gym? The trendy one with the swimming pool? You know, once MC pays his alimony and his brothel tab- - he's only making what a supervisor pulls down at the plant. Poor MC. That guy is such a loser! Why corporate even hired him- - something is amiss!

Well, the GSKers can only sit in their cubicles and surf the net for so long. Of course, a lot of the twenty somethings think this is great- - they've never worked at a biotech before- -so they just assume this is how all biotechs are. Facebook for all!

It is so true. MC is busy

It is so true. MC is busy working at the gym from morning 9 to 12. everyday. I wonder what all the managers are doing at the Hamilton facility. Some are busyily screwing up the girls in the neighborhood as they have no work!!!
Good luck guys. Keep having fun till the curtain falls.

57 threads and still

57 threads and still counting. Morale out at the plant is pretty low- -it should be with no work to do, pay cuts (for some) and the anticipation of the next layoff. And GSK just got dinged by the FDA and the courts for $750 million- -involving one of the subcontractor facilities in Puerto Rico. They can possibly absorb some of those losses by closing Hamilton. Don't give MC or DH a parachute should this happen---they should be blackballed by all the other biotechs when they are out of work!

Wow! It's hard to stop

Wow! It's hard to stop laughing after reading this thread! I am soooo glad I got out in the first round. I guess all of the butt sucking "survivors" are enjoying their tenure. I hope the agony of circling the drain is prolonged and torturous.

Hey all you laid off GSKers.

Hey all you laid off GSKers. . .how does it feel knowing that MC still has his job, while all the rest of you are now feeling sorry that you ever worked there? GSK Hamilton- - -they recruited so many of you with all that crap about how great a place the Bitterroot was to work- - uggggh! Everyone who worked there can attest what a bunch of losers MC, DH, and those upper management yahoos are. Those of you still there- - jump ship!

Well, GSK can keep selling

Well, GSK can keep selling toothpaste and beano until that whole Avandia thing blows over. Too bad about Quebec- - they'll get nice perks while on unemployment.

Laval production site is

Laval production site is closed since 2008, 150 lay off. only the research departement is still open. In Quebec, there will be a shut-down in october and lots of layoff. good to know we are not the only one.

Prediction- - the Hamilton

Prediction- - the Hamilton plant will be closed in the next 12 months due to GSK needing to cut costs. Another biotech acquires the plant at a discount rate. The biotech will re-hire most of the core employees. And the cycle will continue. It is much less stressful working in another career than having to deal with all the uncertainties in biotech. Many GSK employees still at the plant are worried about circling the drain. Hard to have a productive career given all the mishaps at GSK.

rumours of takeover of AZ

rumours of takeover of AZ getting stronger this side of the pond. Would explain the hamilton fiasco and the rest of GSKs behaviour (and that of AZ) over the past 3 months. And with avandia about to get the last rights, the screwing of the workers is likely to continue regardless. the last thing we needed was a market failure - and thats exactly what we got. I'm seriously considering going into retail - i'll probably end up there anyway - the only PhD in McDonalds

...looks like you're in as

...looks like you're in as much crap as Quebec and Marietta. A wonder how a big company like this lets this continue. Tens of millons wasted...and more to come.

ANy more attrition news? Are

ANy more attrition news? Are lots of the retained workers searching the internet for jobs in Seattle? Those who have homes there now are wishing they hadn't bought, and are worried about the next round of layoffs. It just may be they'll eventually close that plant or sell it to another biotech, and then the cycle will start again.

amen to that!

amen to that!

shoot the messenger managment

shoot the messenger managment

Hey! You still must be

Hey! You still must be working there. . . . I didn't get to take part in layoff no. 1, and got the hell out of there after layoff no. 2 (Voluntarily- - because I couldn't fathom attending church with any of those wackos at the plant- -which would have saved me from further layoffs, yikes!).

Great synopsis of the state of affairs----what is the line on that whole plant closing after the workers shuffle paperwork for six months?

Between what I've revealed and what you have to script, I think AMC would pick up such dialogues for another miniseries. .. what do you think? (humor)

Pitiful, in a sense, this all could have been so easy (making something of that Hamilton plant) if there hadn't been such worthless buffoons (including that puke MC and that idiot DH) at the helm.

Thank God I've switched careers, and yeh, its nice to be livin' in Montana. The Bitterroot sure as hell is a dump!

This must have happened

This must have happened around layoff no. 2. So far there have been 3. Site management is on a roll. They "released" the names of employees to be fired in layoff no. 1 and 2. Anyone know if the list was released in layoff number 3? Third time is a charm (practice makes us good management people).

There are only a few sources where the leaks could have happened.

1. The site director ("they know something but they don't know anything" - sounds like Kramer from Seinfeld).

2. Site management team (too uninspired to do much of anything except ride the site treadmill and it is a short ride).

3. HR (certainly not! way too professional! cough gasp).

4. Carpet riders (northeast corner – blab blab blab cat fight! cat fight! I’m better than you blab blab blab).

Corporate Philly, are you listening? Heeeelllllloooooo? (echo and stony silence then crickets)

Thus comes to an end another episode of Payton Place Hamilton. Stay tuned for the next epidsode where unexplained production pauses will be be balanced with too much capacity and too much labor, the site director will be seen cavorting with wolves in sheeps clothing (please let me join the Stock Farm), and Tiny Tim will be heard to utter "will no one from Philly help us?".

Music fade out

Let's keep this thread going.

Let's keep this thread going. (The Silver Coin connection)

So, the ex-GSK employee with the three DUIs and the knee surgeries ($$$$) knew the names of those who were to be laid-off well before the blessed event. Who did she get the info. is up for discussion. Last I heard, she was bagging groceries at the Super One in Hamilton. Anyone, she was at the Silver Coin Casino blabbing the names to the GSK employees a few days before the layoffs. Interesting, eh? Oh, and the night of the previous layoff, she is the one that belted JS (who was banging the site director) off her bar stool. It would be nice if the Silver Coin had it all on the casino cam tapes. Great stuff! Only when you put a biotech out in the Bitterroot will you get such drama.. . .

Corp Philly is a joke. They

Corp Philly is a joke. They would have to admit there is a problem at Hamilton if they did any real investigation. Bad press. Can't do that. So, they turn a blind eye, and employees pay the price. So much for "Codes of Conduct".

I haven't heard the Sliver Coin story - do tell...

So, perhaps PM was fooling

So, perhaps PM was fooling around with the gal who leaked the layoff names at the Silver Coin. Funny, that the upstairs folks can't keep secrets. PM even tried to play off the site director's affair-- -and had to do a lot of damage control to keep the site director's job intact. Of course, none of this ever got back to corporate in Philly. That site (Hamilton) is managed by a bunch of clowns. And the workers are the ones who suffer.

There are "rumors" that the

There are "rumors" that the former HR wonder boy PM left a copy of the list of employees to be laid off on a copier. Supposedly there are existing employees who can verify this happened.

So much for a "professional" HR staff.

PM was probably too busy covering up the "loose pants" of the site director who screwed an employee within the first 30 days of his job.

So much for "professional" leadership. So much for Corporate accountability.

Funny, how a former "fired"

Funny, how a former "fired" GSK employee (the one with the three DUIs and the knee surgeries) knew of the layoffs and even got names of those who were getting laid off, despite not having worked there for awhile. When an employee asked a supervisor about this security leak, the supervisor was dumbfounded. Lots of loose lips out there in the Bitterroot!

News flash! A contract

News flash! A contract employee who was part of the last layoff was called last week to see if he wanted to go back to work for GSK Hamilton- - -he told them off! ! !

Its good to see there are still a few sane people out here in Montana- -to hell with the corporate crap at GSK Hamilton! ! ! Better careers elsewhere, to hell with corporate biotech. . .

Movin' to Montana

Movin' to Montana soon...

Gonna be a dental floss tycoon...

Some contract workers did not

Some contract workers did not have contracts renewed. At least one or two.

The "value streaming" meant lateral moves and some promotions, yes.

Some of the site management have been looking elsewhere (within GSK), including QA managers. One of the HR managers left some time ago for greener pastures within GSK. Others who see the writing on the wall will continue looking.

Real Estate is a joke in the Bitterroot. Upgrades? Downgrades? Doesn't suprise me. Better real estate in other parts of Montana. Better living in other parts of Montana too!

Six months before more "changes". The best and brightest have yet to find something to do with all that excess manufacturing capacity at the plant. Not much optimism with them "delivering"- - -poor track record, and a lousy management work ethic pervades at the plant.

Has anyone heard that

Has anyone heard that Hamilton, in addition to laying off GSK empoyees, laid off contract workers as well? Anyone know how many?

Rumors are also indicating there were site managment promotions following the "layoffs" (aka firings).

Rumors indicate some members of mangaement are selling their houses. Presumabely to "updgrade" to bigger houses.

no base for union, dream on!

no base for union, dream on! It isn't going to happen because nobody here is smart enough to pull it off or dumb enough to join!

The Kool-aid- - -the crappy

The Kool-aid- - -the crappy microbrews they serve at Bitterroot Brewery on those beer fridays. Once the operations group switches over to a four day work week, is that cutting their pay even more? No mention of that yet. Mr. Covarrubias still manages to fly to Belgium (with side trips to Amsterdam to run up his expense account)- - -ha ha ha. Some director he is. If MPL doesn't ramp up after the six month hiatus, there will be more job cuts. Look for attrition to diminish the head count in the mean time- - I hope those who still have hope for biotech look for greener pastures. Anybody in operations who is tired of getting the rug pulled out from under them should seriously contact the unions that are at other biotechs and see about unioinizing this plant. They would do well to get the support from Governor Schweitzer, as he would be in favor of such an effort, especially since GSK Hamilton has gotten funds for economic development, with the blessing of the state. Governor Schweitzer has endorsed unions at the mines here in Montana.

Obama has alienated unions?

Obama has alienated unions? WTF? He is practically sleeping with them. His top adviser, Andy Stern, is the former head of the largest union (SEIU) in the country and has logged more time visiting the white house than any other adviser! Oh and don't forget Ron Bloom, Timothy Geithner and David Axelrod just to name a few more. Even the current issue in the Gulf of Mexico can be linked to Union deals. Obama has held back the emergency response and not deployed available assets because the Unions are concerned about not keeping their hand in the cookie jar!

Mr. Obama is the largest and most powerful puppet the unions ever had and is doing his job perfectly. Time to write out another stimulus bill that will go directly from our pockets into the pockets of the union leaders... that is how community organizers in Chicago make progress.
