The little guy always gets it. Study after study shows that taller people get ahead faster than shorter ones. There have only been 3 or 4 Presidential elections in which the shorter candidate won (the last time was probsbly Bush over Kerry). The only known solution to this bias appears to be elevator shoes, but it takes a bit of practice to learn how to walk in them.

IMS Part 2? Just the thought should send shivers down the spine of anyone who knows anything about that billion dollar white elephant. Any bets on whether Siemens can spend more and get even less?
It looks like Siemens is becoming more of a soap opera-comedy every day, regardless of what their latest financial reports say. The money is just a snapshot in time, but comments about IMS Part 2 suggest a mentality and culture that is destined to make the Titanic a roaring success (after all, alot of people did survive!!!). If this is truly IMS 2, it is hard to see anyone surviving the disaster or imagine anyone coming to rescue anyone to escapes the actual sinking.

It's so hush-hush that even people in Trinidad or Tobago don't know about. It's so secret that work is being carried out at multiple sites. It's so under wraps that people from the different sites are discouraged from talking to one another for fear of a leak.
Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 19/11/2012 - 05:17.
This all may be true. But the fact remains that there is an optimum size for Siemens going forward in terms of staff and there are still many redundacies that ultimately will have to be eliminated. It is something they must focus on if they are to ever streamline their business. Site closings are a particularly difficult area since unique expertise is spread out for both R&D and manufacturing and Siemens has not had much success in trying to transfer technology from one site to another. It is something they must find a way to address.
They also need to strengten their service department, finish with the FDA, and develop a new system, while supporting the old existing product line and build their overall image with customers. MR may have met the target he set, and that's why people are getting their bonuses. Nonetheless, Siemens has a long way to go to get back to #1 and a lot of big things to manage and get right.

I hope you don't believe that story about deferred raises being related to Siemens' FDA problems. MR and his crew don't exactly have a good track record when it comes to explaining things. It is almost as if their first reaction is: what can we tell the employees that is anything other than the real truth or distort it beyond recognition.
I would also be wary of anyone who can do your roof for 20K, given the generally inflated prices atfer an event like Sandy. Just get some references. All of those suffering the aftermath of Sandy deserve our sympathy and compassion, something which Siemens is lacking. I hope things work out for all those whose lives were interrupted abruptly and hope things get back to some semblance of normal as soon as possible.

I seriously doubt any postponement is in place for layoffs or future closures.
Raises were deferred till July (US only) as a "punishment" for the three FDA letters dX received. Empoyee's at Town Halls were told, plain and simple, the merit raise money is being used for all the outside QA people brought in to help "fix" the problem.
So, bottom line, didn't matter how hard you worked or how much you engaged yourself within the Siemens family. US employees got screwed out of 6months merit raise.
This is not the end of it all. DX is still far below expected revenue. The Nov. 8th news was about how bad DX is actually doing. Overall, Siemens revenue is up which makes it harder to accept any merit raise being held back.
Morale couldn't get any lower.
Dealing with Sandy's aftermath and now this. I think it's quite shameful.
Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 19/11/2012 - 00:37.
Not sure what official statements were made about Nov. 8 or whether this is just a case of a rumor repeated often enough becoming fact. One possibility is that DX did somewhat better than last year and the boys on top decided to take another look at reducing costs. One answer would be a delay in raises. They may also feel they don't have to lay off as many people so they are going through another round of discussions of which people they thought they would lay off can now be retained. Just a guess, of course, but apparently, November 8th was a guess as well.
Whatever the case, Siemens still has a long way to go. They bought three companies that had one thing in common. There was a single headquarters with most of R&D, marketing, sales, finance, regulatory, QA, etc. Each had other facilities, in particular manufacturing, but the key point is that those at the main headquarterss felt they were part of a team. You didn't necessarily like everyone there or like every policy or plan. But you had a sense of being on the same team and that you were working together to outdo the competition. Siemens has failed from day 1 to create this same team spirit. There is still Siemens Glasgow, Siemens LA, and Siemens Tarrytown. There is NO Team Siemens or sense of 'WE (Seimens)', just a sense of the internal we vs. them. Anyone ever see a team win when they are fighting among themselves? Part of the problem is Siemens pride. Most of the top brass live in a world where they believe it is an honor to work for Siemens. The probably expected that just having the opportunity to work for a world class operation like Siemens would be more than enough motivation to forget the past and form an immediate solidarity within DX and with Siemens as an whole. Boy, were they wrong, and they still haven't figured out how to generate real team spirit .. not the rah-rah-rah kind they try to generate with town meetings and cheerful emails. On top of all that, Siemens management has had an almost uncanny knack for making bad strategic and tactical decisions when it comes to running DX.
The bottom line is that layoffs were either cancelled, deferred, or are being modified. Management is still smiling because the trend is in the right direction (a modest increase over last year). However, I am very happy that I am not one of Siemens employees, none of whom can have both open eyes and ears, and feel secure and very optimistic about the future.
