Pfizer bioPharm Sci

Rick is retiring. It is said he was kicked out by Legacy Wyeth people. Nobody protect St Louis after he leave. St Louis will be in danger. On the other hand, Andover and Pearl River get a relief.

Is D.B. next in line for the

Is D.B. next in line for the throne?

RR left because he doesn't

RR left because he doesn't need to stay for $'s and didn't want to stay and put up with the BS. You're right that there is no one to protect StL, there hasn't been for a while. StL was sold, and RR was not told about it until the deal was set. StL survived because it's cheap and does it's job well.

Wyeth Vx PS was 50% garbage. Based upon what I've seen, I think most of the good people left. Wyeth Bio PS was good, and much of that quality has remained. StL PS has good and bad, just like the other groups. BRD & PhRD still need to clean house.

If KJ takes any leadership role in PS (eg replace RR), people will leave en masse. Those that remain will hide behind endless red tape and procedures doing nothing while projects wither.

ARD is haemorrhaging while management extols the beauty of the emperors new clothes. PhRD AND/StL division increases while RP smiles on. BRD, stuck on the ice, spins its wheels faster under the lash of DB. QO, CMC, and SC re-org solving nothing.

God help BioTxPS if K.J. gets

God help BioTxPS if K.J. gets the job. Sheesh.....

"lost the war with EE" That

"lost the war with EE"

That shouldn't have been much of a war. EE >> RR

It is said Rick is retiring

It is said Rick is retiring because he lost the war with Emilio Emini. The interview panel for Rick's successor are mostly legacy Wyeth people.

St Louis is expanding at the cost of the shrinking of other bio pharm sci sites. The trend may change after Rick.

".........Wyeth left over’s

".........Wyeth left over’s will never have the opportunity to do once the 2013 changes are implemented. You have no clue what's coming next year, so we'll see how much you blow your mouth in 14 months. Don’t let the lab lead see you typing now when the benchtops need a good washing"

So what exactly is coming in 2013? Let me guess, more layoffs.......ooh the humanity!!!! Been and survived through 3 site closures, believe me it doesn't get any worse than that. Look at the rest of the industry, don't see any pharma in a growth mode right now - the grass does not seem to be any greener.

Look at where all the capital

Look at where all the capital purchases are going. High end stuff to Andover and PR (eg SPR) while St Louis gets plate washers.

"Protect" as in 1) keep

"Protect" as in 1) keep something valuable or 2) keep paying people just for the sake of being nice? Pfizer is in a tough spot- do they need the St. Louis site, or would they become more efficient/effective as a whole without it?

Please...everyone knows that

Please...everyone knows that St Louis is nothing more than routine QC...and that includes the remnants of the four other groups that actually had skilled analytical chemists/biochemists that knew how to DEVELOP assays. F d'A's...err...Ian's shortsighted ESI program is driving AWAY all the ingenuity.

BioTx ARD is BLEEDING....and leadership of out of touch. Laughably out of touch.......sycophants.

> Wow, such venom. I'm on the small molecule side and I haven't seen such dislike/distrust/disrespect since the Warner Lambert acquisition (yes, they do consider themselves from Warner Lambert and still hate Pfizer after 10 years).

Well, it is expected. Pfizer never knew how to appropriately trim back people, they always left the dead or diseased limbs that cannot embrace change they didn't initiate. They hung onto hostile managers and let the worker bees go. It was funny, we hostilely took over WL and kissed the ass of most managers, meanwhile companies that were welcoming our takeover were treated hostile and kicked to the curb. We always do things backwards.

Problem is now all the people whom are left are the walking wounded, demoralized so much they are proverbially punch drunk. If they were just given 1/2 a chance to do a good consistent job (for more then 18-20 months before being reorganized again) ..

If the remaining employees bicker, there is no hope. As for the large molecule research, well, hopefully there is enough left from Wyeth to make it happen.

"Although St Louis is getting

"Although St Louis is getting all ready for Prevnar 20, Legacy Wyeth Vaccine Research have decided to bypass BioPharm Sci and have the project go directly to Sanford."

Good luck with moving Prevnar 20 development to Sanford. Apparently, PFE has forgotten that they fired the majority of vaccine development scientists located at Sanford and RTP. The labs were mothballed. Many of those relocated to Pearl River have since been let go. The scientific braintrust that developed HibTiter, Menigitec, Prevnar and Prevnar 13v is gone. PFE killed the golden goose.

is this where Merson is now?

Actually, that's not true, I hear all those attributes from our government "leaders" too frequently. There is no middle ground or compromise. One reason why the company and country is not as good as it should be.

From my view (legacy Pfizer, I've seen all the acqusitions), the Wyeth purchase was the smoothest (and "hopefully" last) integration. True professionals, and integrated smoothly. Of course, Pfizer did not merge and change every procedure as it had in the past disasters (BLUEPRINT).

Biggest differences in approach/philosophy came down to the consent decree Wyeth was under (which focused on compliance at the expnse of innovation).

1wk? what a joke. It even took St Louis 3 month to find the Wyeth guy who is in charge of a project.

It took STL all of 1 week to

It took STL all of 1 week to figure it out and then improve it,so big deal.

what St Louis did on Legacy

what St Louis did on Legacy Wyeth projects/products are mostly repeating previous work. They have no clue about what has been done and Wyeth people wouldn't tell them anything because of their attitude.

I love how idiots on this

I love how idiots on this site blow misinformed facts out their ass as though they've heard a real rumor while sweeping the halls. It's easy to see why Wyeth was such a piss poor company that Pfizer easily took it over and fired 70% of the left over’s. If only knew how much real chemistry Pfizer scientists had to perform on Prevnar to keep it from being taken off the market you would shut up and get back to washing the glassware for the STL formulators. as far as RR, saying he keeps STL open is like saying Collegeville will still be around in a year, meaning it's just not true. RR wanted to leave last year but was needed to get this company in the hands of capable scientists, so now even though he's been asked to remain, he's retiring, something 90% of legacy Wyeth left over’s will never have the opportunity to do once the 2013 changes are implemented. You have no clue what's coming next year, so we'll see how much you blow your mouth in 14 months. Don’t let the lab lead see you typing now when the benchtops need a good washin!

RR for President!

RR for President!

DB is next, they are all

DB is next, they are all fungible pieces. Carry on.

"Champions of the Midwest!" Rah!

Long overdue! RR destroyed

Long overdue! RR destroyed more potential for PFE than he ever led or created. Glad to see that the Legacy Wyeth team who know how to develop and commercialize vaccines finally were able to clear the obstruction.
