Pfizer St. Louis is in bad shape

Morale is extremely low and colleagues are uncertain if jobs will be available in 2nd half of this year.

Check that off the list of

"My group in STL is hiring

"My group in STL is hiring yet again. We are safe for many years to come as the downsizing just made us more affordable to keep. Bail if you can and join us here in STL where life is good!"

How many years left on that lease? Any talk of extending it? Or are you planning on working out of your car?

Bingo! We have a winner!

Bingo! We have a winner!

It seems SL is going to

It seems SL is going to survive for a while.

In the latest round of BTxPS layoff, SL survived at the cost of PR and AND. The worst is PR ARD, half of them will be gone. The reason is simple, there is nobody from PR in upper management to protect them.

My group in STL is hiring yet

My group in STL is hiring yet again. We are safe for many years to come as the downsizing just made us more affordable to keep. Bail if you can and join us here in STL where life is good!

so when is it finally over

so when is it finally over for RR and BTx Pharm Sci ??

Those turds actually produced

Those turds actually produced drugs that are still making money.

I am positive it was not the turds that made those products and that was my point...only the turds are left.

How is that Rinat plan working out for you? What is the lawsuit count or death toll for Tanezumab up to? Bet you wish you had some people that actually know what they are doing.

"STL will survive as long as

"STL will survive as long as Pfizer needs there capabilities. Not one second longer"

Capabilities in STL? There is next to nothing left!

STL will survive as long as

STL will survive as long as Pfizer needs there capabilities. Not one second longer

Perhaps, much less than

Perhaps, much less than Pfizer. Pfizer has never been good at keeping talent. They always keep the duds. I know, I went through it several times, and always was stunned by the way they culled. Best of luck, but being realist, I think, St. Louis will need more than luck.

Our biggest turds all got

Our biggest turds all got jobs at Amgen after being booted out of Pfizer. Amgen is a company that must be seriously screwed-up.

Those turds actually produced

Those turds actually produced drugs that are still making money.

I hope Pfizer STL stays open.

I hope Pfizer STL stays open. That way all of the useless turds that remain there can't pollute any other companies.

That's for the Evac

That's for the Evac helicopters for when the remaining jobs leave in a few months. Notices being distributed in April.

There is a huge parking lot

There is a huge parking lot at STL where you can land any helicopter. No cars are using it at the present time. Just draw a big circle where the Heli can land. Kind of sad.

Has Pfizer put a Helicopter

Has Pfizer put a Helicopter Pad next to those flower pots? IF so it probably bodes well for good ole STL.

Pfizer needs to cut, no

Pfizer needs to cut, no create new jobs in other places. Sometimes, reality sucks.

Would those jobs go to

Would those jobs go to Andover?

There are no flowers left and

There are no flowers left and the parking lot never got built. If STL survives this year maybe it will happen next.

The latest I heard on ST

The latest I heard on ST Louis is announcements to shut down remaining positions come out by Easter. Jobs gone by Memorial Day or 4th of July.

Aren't the holidays just so festive?

The only problem is the new

The only problem is the new parking lot belongs to Monsanto and so do those pretty flowers.

No, I wouldn't worry about

No, I wouldn't worry about it. You have a farly new parking lot, and I am certain there will be nice flowers in the spring.

"Get those resumes polished

"Get those resumes polished and hope you don't have to use them. I guess this could go for all of Pfizer."

You can polish a turd I guess, just ask the Mythbusters how. You could also ask all those people at STL who spend their day polishing their manager's ass.

Hang in there STL. You have

Hang in there STL. You have all been through this before. Rumors are not facts, but some do come true. The only thing you can do is hope for the best, but plan for the worst. Get those resumes polished and hope you don't have to use them. I guess this could go for all of Pfizer.

More like RR fought to keep

More like RR fought to keep his own ass, period.

Bye St. Louis, Bye, Bye, bye,

Bye St. Louis, Bye, Bye, bye, bye, .............. get the picture.

"Why would RR fight for STL?

"Why would RR fight for STL? He's from Searle Chicago. They already got rid of any real mgmt with STL ties. At the glacial pace of Pfizer, they probably decided to shut down the site three years ago, but it will take them 20 to implement. Party on."

he fought to keep it during the Wyeth transition, that is a fact. Now with MD there and MM gone, the question is when the fu#* are they gonna just announce it, moving the projects to andover or where ever!!, i mean they shut down wyeth with lighting speed, WTF is taking soooo long to shutter STL!!!!!

Of course you are in the same

Of course you are in the same mess, you have MM now. Be sure you watch where you step when traveling behind him and to cover up when he talks to you, he spews mess from both ends.

"What is so sad is so much of

"What is so sad is so much of corporate America is this way. It sets an example that the rest of the civilized world should be proud NOT to follow"

sorry - not the case. i spent over 10 years in the US and now work at AstraZeneca in the UK (for the moment). As far as i can see, this side of the pond is just as bad. Some of the managerial nonsense being introduced into AZ sounds suspiciously similar to what you guys regularly post from pfizer. Presumably we will end up in the same mess.

If there is no HR person,

If there is no HR person, Pfizer can't shut it down. Good luck to all.

Why would RR fight for STL?

Why would RR fight for STL? He's from Searle Chicago. They already got rid of any real mgmt with STL ties. At the glacial pace of Pfizer, they probably decided to shut down the site three years ago, but it will take them 20 to implement. Party on.

How sad to see Pfizer

How sad to see Pfizer continue to effect peoples lives and have no care

What is so sad is so much of corporate America is this way. It sets an example that the rest of the civilized world should be proud NOT to follow.

Have to wonder about St.

Have to wonder about St. Louis. They waved the last HR person and their overall support(HR, security, etc) is in LaJolla. Have to think the writing is on the wall and unfortunately they do not get the enhanced severance package. How sad to see Pfizer continue to effect peoples lives and have no care.

Don't be silly, RR will drop

Don't be silly, RR will drop no bombs, he's moved on, from St. Louis to someplace else. He's watching his own arse, and no one other persons or site. That's all he's ever done, so no change there. Don't think for a moment, he's going to be a savior, he's not, he's just another suit, that drank the Koolaid.

so when is RR droping the

so when is RR droping the bomb on BTx PharmSci? and sending them or their work to the east??

Would it be good if he

Would it be good if he survived?

did Suvit survive?

did Suvit survive?

"My experience has been that

"My experience has been that good technicians and scientists have been largely successful in finding new employment albeit with some relocation involved."

This sentence should read:

My experience has been that good technicians and scientists, UNDER THE AGE OF 50, have been largely successful in finding new employment albeit with some relocation involved.

At least with respect to the matching salary stuff. The rest of us, not all of which made it that final mile to early retirement status, got screwed BIG.

i agree with this completely.

i agree with this completely. My experience has been that good technicians and scientists have been largely successful in finding new employment albeit with some relocation involved. I was out a grand total of 50 days before i got a job offer and the salary matched. But i see no opportunities for those on the first or second rungs on management. In fact, we (Shire) are intending to implement a flatter structure. No more days of one manager per three staff. The most extreme example I know of is a med chem manager from Groton - now a night manager at Home Depot. Salary reduced by just over 50% and it took him over a year to get that following an internship. Face it, there are simply no more roles for powerpoint scientists. And i, for one, am happy. And i suspect patients will be as well.

This job market is not

This job market is not willing to accept anyone based on butt kissing savy or ability to backstab which pretty much rules 95% of STL out of luck. You sound like a couple of middle managers who got let go and are now scrmbling because no one wants an overpriced yes man. There are plenty of opportunities for good scientists that knew how to work to build their resume with real skills. I landed a great spot within 6 months in a great job with similar pay for a company outside pharma. It does exist, it is real that there is life beyond that crap hole of a company.

"You will have to be happy

"You will have to be happy with recovering 50% of what you make now..."

I'd be happy as hell to be making 50% of my former Pfizer salary right now. But I am not. I'm making 30%. Just enough to keep my head above water and it SUCKS!

I am pining for a job that

I am pining for a job that doesn't exist in the US for sure. I am just saying to anyone who is still in big Pharma that it may be pressure filled and crazy, but it is no picnic away from your job. There are no replacement jobs for you once you are cut. You will have to be happy with recovering 50% of what you make now (maybe 70% if you are lucky)and work in an environment that is not equipped to do science as you were used to.

But Pfizer doesn't want your

But Pfizer doesn't want your skills either. You are pining for a job that doesn't exist. Or maybe it does: somewhere in Asia.

yes, I understand that over

yes, I understand that over 75% of the workforce at Pfizer is fired, but I would still rather have my job, than be out looking for a new position in a market which does not want my skills.

-->As crazy as it was in St.

-->As crazy as it was in St. Louis, I miss my job. Don't for one minute think it is better not to have a job, than to have a job at Pfizer.

Don't you understand that this is how a job at Pfizer ends... always. You get Pfired. It's only a matter of time.

For a great job and great

For a great job and great pay, why not try Ebiosciences - home of the Corporate Cleveland Steamer!

You may soon realize what

You may soon realize what good comes from the backwoods hicks in the middle of the country. The left and right coast douchebags in this country that don't know how to make or grow anything aren't going to fare well in the next 10 years.

"STL used to own the

"STL used to own the building, and that didn't save them. What makes you think the cost of a lease will keep jobs there? All Scientists jobs will be gone before Easter. Announcements may start coming out before Dec. 22."

Say goodbye to the rest of Pfizer in Misery, oh wait you backwoods hicks down there say Missoura. Nothing useful came out of STL, except free money from Tanezumab lawsuits. When RR serves the koolaide you should drink all you can!

st. louis has 4 more years

st. louis has 4 more years left on its lease. it will be fine

STL used to own the building, and that didn't save them. What makes you think the cost of a lease will keep jobs there? All Scientists jobs will be gone before Easter. Announcements may start coming out before Dec. 22.
