(Yes, Virginia, the word welfare is in the Constitution .. right up front in the Pre-Amble; the words capitalism, free enterprise do NOT appear in the Consitution at all, nor do words associating our government with any particular religions.)

Please try to engage mind before mouth and please try to learn some history rather than just trying to invent your own. The history you tend to quote is a myth. The era to which you seem to want to return is also a myth; probably just a time during your childhood when you were protected from reality and didn't see all the bad stuff in the world, but just lived as a carefree child, protected from bad things by your parents. The world you remember from your childhood was a cloistered world, far from the reality that adults back then knew to be the truth. PS: Regardless of what I think of Obamacare, EVERY poll shows that most Americans support it's key provisions. The oppostion stems from the propaganda effort made by the right to spread fear about things like a government takeover of healthcare (which is no greater now than it was before Obamacare), and death panels (which, if you on the term, already exist in the form of insurance companies that decide what they cover and what they don't and what kind of treatment they will approve). There are many aspects to our health care system that need to be addressed ... Obamacare is fairly low down on my list of things that need fixing. Two easy ones come to mind: I see no reason that Americans should participate in socialism by supporting lower prices for drugs in Europe because Republicans have insisted that our government cannot negotiate drug prices when Europeans already do. The second has to do with the fact that we are graduating the same number of new doctors each year as we did in 1980. Why are there no new medical schools or why haven't med schools increased enrollment to accomodate the increased population of the US (Hint: ask the AMA who want to keep supply low and doctors fees high). I would even include tort reform vis-a-vis medical malpractice on my list.

There are still many things we can do to improve our healthcare system. Repealing Obamacare and replacing it with nothing is not one of them.

The problem with the right wing is that they think all liberals are the same, as if they were clones. This must come from their limited experience and thinking since they tend to be far more uniform than people on the left. Many seem to thrive on conformity. They speak the exact same talking points, word for word. Those one the left tend to present things with their own personal slant and in their own words. They don't need a script like the right wingers do. Liberals don't go around imposing their own personal values on others. Liberals accept individuality which is why they tend to have a bigger, and noiser, less unified tent.
