What is the reason for the collapse of Complete Genomics? Was it the executive leadership, the middle management, the overall talent of the employees, the core technology, or was the market not ready?

CG will loose their CLIA
CG will loose their CLIA license next week. why did they not renew it?
CLIA will only make their
CLIA will only make their genomes more expensive. Does VC hope that insurance will pay the actual price + profit? Obamacare fund a genome for everyone!?
I don't get it, how this type of work can be profitable. The most profitable application of NGS isn't whole human genomes, it is selling the consumables for sample prep and sequencing.
LOL!!! You honestly think
LOL!!! You honestly think having a CLIA lab will save Complete Genomics?!?! Their business model and clinical strategy is severely flawed. Clinical whole genome sequencing?!?! Are you crazy!!!
Over the years there have
Over the years there have been many of these types of companies, Perlegen, Genaissance, Celera, DNA Sciences, Incyte, Curagen etc... "Complete" is just the latest casualty...I see Foundation Medicine as the next (a couple of high profile investors / KOLs and they get tons of press).

Please enlighten us... With
Please enlighten us... With more than 20 years of experience in this field as you claim, Am I wrong to expect a better explanation than the one you just provided. I mean, you have seen this industry grow leaps and bounds since 1992 and the best that any of the readers are going to gain from your vast knowledge and experience is "genomics is a scam". My opinion is, anyone that would dare to state such a claim should be able to elaborate without having to resort to name calling in defense of their opinion. As you hide behind your anonymity, making generalized statements, and your resolution to insult others in defense of your position, sure begs me to question the validity of anything that you post. IMO someone needs to take your keyboard away until you know how to behave. I think the readers can ascertain for themselves the quality of your postings. You are an angry individual and you need help.
the mere fact that you think
the mere fact that you think lack of CLIA and that every child will get sequenced are reasons for failure makes you a total moron. people do not pay for what they do not need. Cancer genomics is a general scam, somatic mutation conondrums are beyound your understanding and selling penny cheap labor services to answer it has absolutely no futur. This is a Walmart world, cheap and clinical worth just do not survive. DNA has no value as we know it now, why invest in sequencing ? CG is dead, PacBio is dead, 454 is dying, arrays are dying, LIFE is not profiting from a billion $$$ investment and Agilent has moved into a safe immuno histology world... The only survivor is ILMN and they have little growth in front of them, any new instrument will only offer to do more for less cost... do you think that is a model for growth ? When was the last time you saw a study looking at the worth of a full human clinical sequencing operation in a hospital be worth any life saving ? Eat less read meat and go run outside fat slob, invest in Nike, you will have a better life... Genomics is a scam, I know, I have benn in it for 20 years. Still millions of poeple dying from poor water and medications, take your shit to another level... and please leave alone with your Oxford crap, bloody scammers...
What facts do you hold that
What facts do you hold that substantiate such a claim? And as I asked before, What type of ties do you have to either co. employee or shareholder? Thanks
It seems like CG has had
It seems like CG has had issues with their employees not being competent. CG also grew too quickly in the wrong areas. They will be out of business in less than a year.
Forgot to ask the originator.
Forgot to ask the originator. Why are you so angry? Do you work for Illumina? Illumina shareholder? A angry ex CG employee? A CG investor from the IPO? There is obviously a driving reason for your anger and spite. A piece of advice, you can make a better argument that others will take seriously if you leave out the name calling as you post anonymously. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but you are very angry and would love it if you would entertain us as to why. I am also on twitter as @ddlow. This was my post yday. Tweeted 6 July: About to go on a tirade. Here is the common sense approach and understand there are no guarantees, not even for VC but frivolous lawsuits stifle innovation. Looking forward, a few years from now, every newborn child will have his/her DNA sequenced. There will be plenty of room for several players in this space. VC seed money is what brings great ideas to reality. VC’s can only offer money to great ideas if they make money on successful investments. Several VC’s are hurting everywhere you look having to absorb losses. If growth is to occur, then VC has to have the capital to invest in these great ideas. Anyone that believes that frivolous lawsuits are smart business practices probably sees no further than the tip of their nose. This hinders not just a company but the industry as a whole. Eventually someone big enough will come in and put a halt to the stifling of competition and innovation. Granted, some companies will give way and fail, but that should be determined by the customer, not from frivolous claims and lawsuits.
Yes, complete genomics does
Yes, complete genomics does have their cash issue to deal with, but there are several ways CG can work this. Which path Jefferies comes back with is anyone's guess but since they were the co. that handled the secondary offering, I am sure they will find the right solution for CG. CG just needs to make it to CLIA. Hope this helps and sorry I do not post anonymously.
RIM still has 2 billion $ in
RIM still has 2 billion $ in the bank, everyone knows they are bankrupt... You are an idiot because you do not understand the cost of running this buisiness. Bye bye complete.
What has happened that causes
What has happened that causes you to state they have collapsed? Yes, share price is low, EPS is -$2.50, but they are still in business, no? Have we redefined the meaning of collapse?
