Regional Sales Manager salary for lab products?

What is a typical salary and bonus structure for a Western Regional Sales Manager in the US?

Assume its for a large company such as Millipore, Thermo, or others along the same size. Say about 5 direct reports. Selling a combination of consumables and equipment.

I have to concur that if you

I have to concur that if you don't know the salary structure you don't know the business. If you don't know the business I would hope none of the major lab equipment manufacturers would hire you for a regional manager position unless they are only looking for an expense report approver. $150K is alot of $$ to only be reviewing expense reports.

I would be suprised to learn of any regional manager positions given the current economy. If there are it really sucks that they would not pursue internal candidates. I have worked for managers who did not work their way up in the company and they never seem to last long.

Sounds like some people are

Sounds like some people are jealous others are getting ahead in this downturned economy.

I've seen comp packages about $150k also. Not sure about the BASE salary though.

If you have to ask then you

If you have to ask then you aren't qualified!

"If you have to ask than you

"If you have to ask than you do not know the market!"

What a stupid and empty reply, similar to asking what a ring is worth and the salesman saying "if you have to ask you can't afford it". Why even bother typing a reply at all unless you are so pathetically bored that you enjoy making marginal attempts at failed funny on an anonymous rumor mill.

Anyways, to the OP the answer is that it can vary widely by company. I can tell you that the large diagnostics companies such as Roche, Beckman, etc... had total comp in the $150k range for a position like you are describing, but the base/bonus ratio is were the differences will be.

If you have to ask than you

If you have to ask than you do not know the market!
