"Siemens are so desperate they are "importing" more UK engineers - that worked really well last time.."
The one that's going - 'Sonic the Hedgehog' is a single site boy, if they think he will last long trucking all around oz then they are making a big mistake (again). But I hear Siemens Australia service management are uniquely skilled in doing that!

If they really did pay AL $$$ to come back it's a dangerous road to be heading down. Sure it keeps one isolated customer happy but at what price? Surely keeping guys from leaving in the first would have made more sense! After all, if everyone else is gone (or going), how are the remaining customers going to be looked after?
Why would you stay, if you're rewarded for leaving? It's certainly one way to test your true worth to the company!!

I am well experienced in Siemens products, how much would they pay me to drag my sorry ass round the globe to the old prison colony? I don't do knock myself out for the company though, work my way so they would have to take or leave it...

True, both Abbott & now Siemens are not treating their support staff well. Suspect Beckman is not much better. That only leaves one main Diagnostic company that is reasonably fair, ie where the Abbott and Siemens Eng's are going from what I can see, clue -starts with R.

If you seriously think that ANY company gives a toss about their techs that conduct the work and smooths the problems created then you are seriously misguided. Train them, burn them out then toss them out the door or wait until they cannot take anymore and leave. That is the way it is with big business unfortunately.

Not to worry, big Kev and his clone RT will fix it all up, infact they are working on the whole picture at the moment...Cant you see the results...In the meantime toughen up boys! And dont forget, if you dont like it here you can of course all leave - we dont need experienced engineers, infact we dont need engineers, we only need sales people... Get it through your head!!! When something goes down, that is what second level support is for... Dont you know by now? Unfortunately it doesnt help those poor customers......

Well if you don't like it you can leave... that's a quote from one Senior Manager at Siemens.. no wonder there is a que to get out!
Still don't see anyone from Roche, Abbott, or BCAL going there. That says volumes about a company when their main competitors don't want to work there.
On a positive note, they are paying very high rates to keep/attract staff and that pushes the industry rate up overall...

Are they really engineers (Engineering Degree) or just service repair reps?
Ha you think an engineering degree makes a 'real' engineer? most graduates can't fix a sandwich let alone an analyser. And this isn't a component level industry its board/module level stuff, experience - especially of the how specifically the stupid quirky crap is put together, common sense and a nose for what could of gone wrong matter most.
