Siemens Diagnostics TTN

I have been offered a job in software department in TTN. I was wondering if someone can help me with some insight. Is this a good department to work in? Should I accept. I liked the interview process but I want to get some inside information, if you know what I mean.

If you have always worked for

If you have always worked for large conglomerates you'll probably be happy. The problem is when you've worked for smaller, nimbler and successful companies (which if they aren't successful, they are gone in a heartbeat, whereas large companies can lumber on for years), working for a large conglomerate is almost "unrecognizable". It's like going from swimming in water to swimming in molasses. Another analogy is like living on the open prairie and suddenly being moved to a reservation. Sure, you don't have to make the effort to hunt and move your camp on a regular basis, but a lot of what "gets you out of bed in the morning" is gone. Isn't that everything in life?

Now we get into the area of

Now we get into the area of perspective. What is the standard for delivering high quality software in a timely manner during a projectg development? I can easily think of two very different standards:

The Tarrytown standard in which, historically, has been delivered late and been responsible for many, many project delays on past Tarrytown system development projects and, when delivered, is riddled with bugs.

The rest of the world standard.

For the sake of those remaining, let us hope that the latter becomes a new, and most welcomed, standard for Tarrytown. If new software management can simply achieve that major change, there might be reason for some optimism in what is otherwise a fairly dismal scene in Tarrytown.

Most obvious and unabashed

Most obvious and unabashed planted thread on BioFind.

Clearly fabricated and an attempt to misrepresent reality in this TTN group.
Proof of good "leadership" comes not from handing out raises to the underserved in order to win favor but is, instead, manifested in quality and timely delivey of software.

Time will tell.

Watch out for the jelly

Watch out for the jelly beans. They may be leftovers from the Reagan administration. You can easily tell if all of the red, white, and blue ones are missing.

Well there ya go, it's all

Well there ya go, it's all bunnies and pastel colors in the Software department.

PS: Save some of the jelly beans for the facilities department.

Good luck. I would try to

Good luck. I would try to confirm anything that you have seen here with some other source. If the head of software is good, you may have a future in Siemens if you can be flexible. There have been many posts here that question the capability of the overall head of diagnostics and whether Siemens can make diagnostics a long term viable business. Since much of what Siemens does involves software, good performers would probably survive at other divisions should the worst happen.

Once again, congratulations on your new job, and the best of luck.

After reading all the

After reading all the comments, I have to decided to join. Every company has problems but as long as the leader is good, I will join

Good one!

Good one!

It seems that there are very

It seems that there are very few Siemens employees who are actually gruntled.

you get mostly disgruntled

you get mostly disgruntled employees, or ex-employees, here. so take things with a grain of salt. if the job interersts you, take it. its a huge company and its easy to move divisions if you find that it isnt what you wanted.

If AD were to leave, I know

If AD were to leave, I know that there will be a lot of people in software who will leave along with him. I will be one of those.

Have you decided to accept

Have you decided to accept the job?

Since he is good, he probably

Since he is good, he probably will leave. It's always the best and the brightest that leave bad companies first! In addition, the chance that Siemens German management actually understanding that he is a good employee is very slim, and if they DO understand this, they will feel threatened if AD doesn't let them take all the credit for the fact that he's good.

Welcome to the corporate grind, folks!

That is so true. That would

That is so true. That would be a big loss if he were to leave

AD is definitely a real

AD is definitely a real leader. However, I suspect he would not stay for long. Sooner or later, all good people end up leaving DX

Yes, I heard good things

Yes, I heard good things about AD as well.

I have to agree. Other

I have to agree. Other managers in DX, especially in TTN c,an take some lessons from him. I have been working in software department for last 15 years and I have to say I have never been more satisfied and productivity as I am now . I think AD really knows what management is all about.

Yes, I have heard good things

Yes, I have heard good things about AD.....but overall Siemens DX is no good

After AD took over, it is

After AD took over, it is becoming the best dept to work for in TTN

I have been working in

I have been working in Tarrytown over 30 years It is the best!
